My favorite co-op gaming memory is of a single player game. Final Fantasy Tactics, back when I was a kid. Two friends and I would split character and have a sort of Roleplay, d&d style, passed the controller when it was your dude's turn. We used the generic character we were given at start and the guy who owned the game used the main character as bonus.

My favorite co-op experience was Journey, I never thought I'd play that game but then I got it for free with Playstation Plus and instantly felt bad for not actually buying it. It's a special kind of experience and it breaks my heart that more people didn't experience it and now so few people play they most likely won't experience the co-op aspect. I've only cried 4 times in the last decade, 3 were relatives passing away, and the fourth was from Journey, an unexpected feels trip I was happy to take

One of my favourite co-op memories is having my best friend over for all 4 days of Queen's Birthday long weekend (I was home alone the whole weekend bar from him) and all we played was LEGO Marvel Superheroes on PS3 because I was dedicated to getting the Platinum for it. We were so tired that we created an internal meme known as "Windows maaaaaate" which involved Jean Grey flying around and playing with any window cleaners. (Honourable mention to Ratchet Gladiator/Deadlocked's co-op campaign).

spending a summer holiday in the north of Scotland in a friend's cottage. We were maybe 11 at the time. We were playing time splitters (2?) with cheats. My friend rushed in having fun and I took it slow. He kept ordering me to look at his screen at something funny but I was in a gunfight for about 5 minutes. when I finally looked every single character on his screen was having a fit. The suspense for my friend waiting for me to look was clearly too much. We laughed solidly, crying for 15 minutes and he wet himself. It was one of the best nights of my life

One of the best coop moments I've had with my friends was when we played Heavy Rain on the PS3. Granted that it was supposed to be a single player game, we each chose characters and played our roles passing the controller whenever it was the other person's character. There was so much intrigue as we role played and laughed when one guy's choices messed up another person.

TheNamesDitto don't know if you this already (or whether this works the same outside of the UK, where I live) but good thing about A Way Out is only one person needs to buy it, once you've invited your friend(s) to get the trial version you can both play it through together. Honestly, more games should have split screen these days. I used to always play racing games with my dad (need for speed underground was our main game on the ps2 and grid 2 on ps3), but so far I haven't seen a single interesting racing game with split screen on ps4 and as a result we haven't really played games the last FOUR years. This while almost all racing games these days seem to sell themselves as really social (Driveclub, all recent NFS games, the Crew)! All I need is for a game like the Crew to have split screen and I'm set for the rest of the generation, but no, they refuse to do that :(

Recently bought Rayman legends because of the local coop feature and I'm still having tons of fun with it! I also own the borderlands games because of the split screen feature. The problem is that my dad only really likes racing games, and I haven't really found one that has split screen since the ps4 came out. I still have my eyes on A Way Out (I think that's the game you meant), because even though that will probably not be a game my father wants to play, it really seems like a really unique coop game. If it gets good reviews I'll certainly get it. Not just because of the praise, but because I really want to support all games that still go through the effort of putting local coop in.

My favorite co-op moment was with my best friend playing The Division. We both went into the dark zone when we got ambushed by 3 other random players. Their ambush killed one of us instantly, and the other player was forced to duck behind a car trying to hold back three people. By the time one friend managed to make it's way back to the conflict, the other friend would die just before they arrived. This happened about three times until we finally managed to get together as a team and push back with each other anticipating the other's needs while we moved up in quick succession. With the positions, angles, and teamwork we demolished their 3 man team. I'll never forget how fluid that moment felt, and how screwed they were when we evened the odds.

I remember meeting a guy on GTA IV called Rob and we used to play stuff together all the time. He talked me in to buying COD 3 and I wasn't sure at the time because I was young and thought old = trash but I caved and bought it and the community was tiny but really tight and we used to play together all the time and everybody knew eachother. It was pretty fun. We also played SC: Conviction Co-Op and spent the whole day trying to complete it with perfect stealth and after reaching the last part in the plane where you're told you have to kill the other player, me and Rob just sat in silence like "did... Did I just hear that right?" and after a long pause he said "...Yeah" then we just got in to the most frantic and tense duel. He ended up killing me but it was such a good time and the twist came by a total surprise.

One of my most memorable co-op experience was in Dark Souls 3 in the boss fight with Midir. I had tried killing him and failed roughly ten to fifteen times with various companions before one finally appeared. He was a simple paladin with a flag spear, and his connection was terrible. At first that may sound awful, but it practically made him immortal. He glitched through fire and one hit swipes. He even killed the Dragon and got me the rewards before Midir' s health bar was fully depleted

My favorite co-op moment I'll never forget was in PES 3 on PS2. I just purchased the game and wanted to play competative with my two best friends as we previously did with PES2. Upon launching the game one of my friends suggests that instead of playing 1v1 and the winner stays, we could try out to play us three together against the computer. In the first match we got the lead two times but it ended 2:2 (we lost in penalty shootout). The second match the computer had the lead two times but we managed to get 2:2 again only to lose again in the penalties. So far so good. Now this is where the magic happened. Starting with the third a losing streak began and we decided that we would continue playing until we manage to beat the computer. We began playing at about 10 pm and at 9 am we gave up on ever beating the AI as a team of three. We got our rocks handed to us so badly that we are talking about this to this day (and that was 15 years ago). Best gaming experience ever! Who says you need to win to have fun^^

And when it got loud i was always there to get him out of trouble. If i had to have ANY game with co-op, I'd undoubtedly have MGSV PP. To have one man go in to a base to extract a hostage and the other to have his back with sniper cover would be indescribably amazing.

Favorite co-op moment: Tackling the Endless Setlist on "expert" in Rock Band with my best friend over summer break 2008. We would try to do the whole thing in one session (with short breaks for food), with him on drums and me on lead guitar. One of my favorite coop memories on playstation (and in general for that matter) is doing Portal 2 with many of my friends since a few days before its release date (I got a slightly early copy), and having the realization that most of them are either terrible at puzzles, and bad at cooperating, or good at puzzles, and much worse at cooperating.

Magicka! Magicka is a game of wild flailing. You practice, sure - you get a couple spells down that you can do consistently, you work out strategies with your friends to best exploit the interactions between your magic, and then the slightest bit of action occurs and you're both running around the screen, slapping buttons, trying to come up with something useful and, more than likely, crossing the streams with your friend's flaily magic ray and blowing you both to squishy red bits. My favorite co-op moment happened when my group was defending an airship from goblin incursion. Enemy goblins would constantly leap on from outside - the play area was rather restricted, with the natural penalty of falling death if you misstepped. We deal with the first few waves handily, then things start ramping up, the flailing begins, someone does something they shouldn't have and a massive explosion kills pretty much everyone... except me. I'm not much help, though, as I've been launched into the air by the blast and am swiftly falling to my doom. Except! As I am suspended between explosion and impact, my half-conscious finger-twitching somehow managed to key up a resurrection spell and cast it on my downed friends moments before I disappear from sight. We still lost horribly, but that was pretty memorable.

The survivors had just made it to the last part of the first mission when they are riding up to the top floor to get to the helicopter. My friend and I spawn as the Boomer and Smoker. So rather than hide and wait we went to the elevator with the Boomer charged and standing directly in front of the doors and the Smoker hanging back just within tongue reach. Survivors get to the top and the door pops open immediately revealing the Boomer. Boomer spits all over them, then they shot the Boomer making it explode blinding them all and calling all the other zombies. Smoker just stood back at a distance and pulled people out with the tongue. We were laughing so hard watching them try and scramble to figure out what had happened and then save those that were getting dragged away.

I will always owe him for that.

Most memorable co-op moment for came from Ghost Recon: Wildlands. My friend and I where planning to skydive and infiltrate an enemy base so we flew out, picked a spot, jumped and everything is going smoothly as I land. Well. I look up and see the chopper spiraling as it falls like usual except...it managed to crash right ontop of my friend and explode. To this day we make jokes about it whenever we see a helicopter in a game.

For me it was back on the playstation 2, with my brother. We played the new Gran Turismo at the time, and it had a Le Mans mode. 24 hours straight of driving the same circuit. We took turns making food and getting drinks, and switched every so often when we needed to hit the pit stop. Still check every new iteration to see if they have that mode. They haven't so far :(

I am honestly surprised that Journey wasn't in there.

Hands down it has to be Smackdown: shut your mouth or here comes the pain on PS2. Get 2 multi-taps and 6 people huddled together in a small room and have a royal rumble. I'm not even a wrestling fan but I loved those days

Red Dead Redemption!! I loved that single player and Co op was amazing also. I used to take my ps3 and my TV over my friend's house because I didn't have Internet and staying up stupid late playing it. Wow what a memory.

Co-op Doom 2 on Ultra-violence. I remember the LAN-party nights well, but less well the days after.

my favorite co-op moment I had was with my cousins in dark souls 3 we all made different builds and went through the whole game together as a team the only issue was having to fight the same boss 4x in a row since it was 4 of us

I'll never forget my first experience with The Last Of Us's Factions multiplayer. I seldom game online, but when I had mastered TLOU on Grounded mode, I wanted more. So I tentatively logged into the multiplayer lobby, and got sorted into a 4v4 squad match. I had no idea what I was doing, didn't own a mic or headset (yet) so I couldn't communicate with my team, and couldn't even apologize to my teammates for my ineptitude. I soon got shot, was downed, and lay dying on the floor when suddenly over my television a deep voice proclaims "Don't worry Princess, I got 'chu", and one of my teammates rushed over to revive me, and proceeds to essentially teach me the basics of what to do in Factions, early strategies for not getting shot ("Don't run, they see's ya on their map", amongst other things, such as how to be an efficient and valuable member of an online team. I regret my inability to find out who he was or add him as a friend (I was new to online gaming, you'll recall), but I will never forget what he taught me, most especially that not everybody online is a 14-year-old COD punk.

So what I learned from this video is that Dave is great to play co-op games with. I always knew it. And personally my two favourite co-op games of all time are Golden Eye 007 for the N64 (Big head mode turned on of course) and any Worms game.

First VOG run. We didn't finish it and one of us were an a** at the gorgons, but it was such fun.
