Co-op play on a solitaire game is one of my all time favorite ways to play. A good friend of mine and myself played through every single mission of Ambush!, Move Out, Purple Heart, Silver Star, Battle Hymn and Leatherneck in my younger days, and it was one of the best times I can remember in gaming.

That's sounds like an incredible journey to have experienced, as well. I should play Ambush! at some point..

I've watched hundreds of playthrough videos of various board games for years. I have to say Warfighter games are some of the most randomly thematic games I've seen. Everything is randomized but for some reason this is one of the only games I've seen where random card pulls result in entirely thematic circumstances. I know it's partly due to the theme tying everything together but what I'm talking about is for example, getting a mission to destroy say a Stuka...and next they draw an Airfield location or Guard Post completely randomly. Destroying a PT boat and you get shoreline locations along the way or something, Someone making too much noise and all of a sudden guard dogs are drawn. Everything is so random but works 99.9% of the time. Even the Action Cards have thematic tie-ins at times that make perfect sense.

I really love Warfighter, and it is really is borderline addictive with all the expansions and core boxes. It first stared with I get myself 2 full fledged nations and the ETO game, so the 2 US & German nation packs. But then its like, playing as the Canadians sounds cool, or what about the airborne expansion? And if I get the 2 French expansions I can re-act early war battles... And before you know it, you have multiple core boxes & like 15 expansions.

Really beginning to enjoy this game now, at some point will get a couple, or more, of the expansions for North Africa. Many thanks for the review..

I only own ETO (and all wave 1 expansions) however it is easily one of my favourite games. Like you guys said, it's just FUN to play.

I have found using 1/72 plastic soldiers for friendly and hostile forces adds even more theatre. You can then replace the Kia and suppression markers by putting the number of hostile soldiers on the card and removing them when dead or laying them flat for suppression. I use pairs of identical figures for the friendly so don’t need number markers. Only problem is you get obsessed with collecting different sets of soldiers but they are quite cheap

I already have a very large collection of 15mm (1/100) miniatures, so I could do this for ETO, but no desert atm! Might look into this.. haha

@@ThePlayersAid The Italeri Afrika korps beat me up as the Italeri 8th Army. Goodness I must have bought about 20 packs - inc Airfix Ghurkas and Aussies. The Italians were harder to find. Having an enemy card with 6 soldiers on it can be quite intimidating lol - thanks for responding and the great review/updates

Warfighter is a fun game. I prefer Arkham horror lcg as a cooperative game, but warfighter is similar enough that i like it as a lighter game for solo.

Which one would you stay to start with? Is the difference really only theme, mostly?
@ThePlayersAid

For starter sets in WWII, just go with theme.

What variations does this variant provide ? I didn’t pick this up as I have modern, ETO & PTO and quite enough add on packs. Would have been nice though.
@ThePlayersAid
@ThePlayersAid Жыл бұрын
I’m f you have all of that stuff, the reality is that the variation comes in the minutiae; locations, missions, objectives, flavour of soldiers etc. for me it’s more of the same goodness.

Is the challenge just to eliminate all the hostiles per sector?
@ThePlayersAid
@ThePlayersAid Жыл бұрын
Yes and no, you’ll have a more specified objective at the end (survive X turns, capture a leader, destroy a building), but you’ll have to eliminate/evade/navigate past the hostiles on the way to the objective as well.

@@ThePlayersAid does it get repetitive?

@@Another_opinion_ I don’t think so, but some people do. Does chess get repetitive? For some, yes. I enjoy the game so will play it endlessly.

@@Another_opinion_ I would say not repetitive at all. There are so many variables that make each turn unique. If anything, each turn can be a little "puzzely."
