Seeing as the designer and publisher are from the UK, I don't think the rulebook is translated.... Sounds like it might just be a bit lacking.

Decided to go back and listen/watch all the monthly debriefs up to this one. Took me about a month. Just want to say after four years your love and passion for war gaming and gaming in general has not dwindled at all! Keep up the great work Alexander & Grant!

At 9:28 you mention 300 or a game that starts with a G. I couldn’t quite make out what you said. Which 300 game do you mean? There are a few with that title over the years. And what was the game that started with a G?

Love the series. In fact it's now the only ACW series I play. For me the perfect balance. Immersive. Thanks for the vid Grant.

Grant, you talked me into ordering this one. If I like it, I'll have to keep my eyes open for future games in the series.

I love the simplicity of this game system while still being really fun. Franklin is a good one, I like that it's a smaller game, easier to get a scenario played in one sitting. I struggle to get Gettysburg to the table because it's a two-mapper and my usual gaming table can't fit it.

I’ve got this one and need to get it to the table. Looks great and love the low counter density and quality of the production.

Awesome! I live in Franklin. Will have to pick this up.

I usually put the strength change counters on top. It's just I can see it when I move the unit and it just makes for faster die rolls when I'm playing solo which is always

Wow, great playthrough. I won this game once and thought I had uncovered the strategy to winning it. But you have done amazingly well without opening supply routes. Of course you were also very lucky drawing from the recruit bag. I've also seen different tiles uncovered in the snow. I'm going to have to get this game out again really soon.

That review took longer than the actual battle!😎 Yes, Tennessee was a border state and interestingly provided more troops to both sides than any other state. It also was the last state to leave the union and the first state to rejoin. Seriously, enjoyed the review and your passion for the series. I’ve owned many of them for years, but haven’t played for many many years.

At about 24 mins, and 26:46, when you move the Hispanic army you are supposed to put a revolt under it. Rules P12 highlighted in the box in the bottom. Also, the way the Hispanic army moves is different to what you said. The army didn't have a choice for the red turn so you didn't need to roll the die. In the yellow turn the army could have gone to 3 or 6 (it wouldn't go to 1 because it is already in revolt). You rolled 2, which is closer to 3 than 6 so the army moved to 2.

I would rate OST having just very slightly more rules than Conflict of heroes, no way even near ASL. Both quite light tactical games, LnL in med-heavy range

I would recommend Catton's Army of the Potomac series (Mr. Lincoln's Army, Glory Road, and A Stillness at Appomattox). It reads as easy as historical fiction, and the character sketches are so human that I feel like I've met them. Also, the PBS Ken Burns series The Civil War is every bit as good as the shouting about it. It's a real pleasure to hear extended conversations from great historians who are no longer with us (Foote, Ed Bearss).

Like you I love this game. To me the chrome is not a bug but a feature. Passing along a book you may like that overlays the geography and chronology of the game almost perfectly, (in fact I wonder if this book was not used in the design of the game) - A Peace to End All Peace" by David Fromkin. 500 pages but well worth a read if you have the time.

It's a great addition to the series although some of the historical detail is a bit off. The term 'Saxons' is well out of date. Harold, the last Anglo-Saxon monarch in Britain, was 'King of the English' (a title established in 928 under Athelstan). William of Normandy faced an English army at Hastings.

I played 6 coin games and like them alot. I might be alone here and making big assumptions. But my initial feeling is i have no real compulsion to play a dry as the martian atmosphere procedural coin game in a sci-fi or fantasy setting.

What would you consider the best Coin game to start with by someone who never picked up one?
@andreford31978 күн бұрын
The general opinion has been to start with Cuba Libre and more recently The British Way (two players) and People Power ( three players). I would even include Colonial Twilight (two players). However, Alexander and Grant gave probably the best answer in a recent video -- find one with a theme that interests you and go from there. Once you learn the basic mechanics you should be able to pickup any one of them. Enjoy!

Is this game better than the other game called US Civil War?
@ThePlayersAid7 күн бұрын
This is a card driven game whereas The US Civil War is a strategic scale hex and counter game.

Great gushing Alexander! You've sold me on this one - and this is not a series I have tried. As this is my first post to you guys I'd also like to say thanks to you both for such fantastic content over recent years. BTW - how well does this play solo? I like all the head scratching stuff (alongside the reading - I totally get that), so without card play involved, I would guess this works pretty well? I'm in the middle of nowhere here - so it's Vassal or solo. Thanks again, Andrew

Just got this to the table and started the tutorial. A bit daunting to think of playing all four sides all the way through a full game. Edit - Mike and Grant look enough alike to be brothers.
@wmarclocher9 күн бұрын
Glad to see you guys (Alexander, Bill, Grant and Mike) I love it. I have had a blast playing this one as any of the four factions. 22:35 Would have like the player aid to mention that you cannot house or repair unless you have control of that space? One of the darker sides of this game (RDR) is how you can lose some of the civilian population (not displaced, but sucked out into the Martian void) when damage is placed on the infrastructure track. So are we going to see a 2025 ranking of the volumes of COIN games out thus far?

Once again, outstanding work - no one breaks down a game like you and Alexander. Seriously - you guys have the best analysis and presentation - even for a basic unboxing segment. You can make any game - even those that are completely off my radar, like this one - and make it seem fascinating. Well done!

Where did you get the off map unit sheets - for the fatigue and manpower for each unit? And that battle sheet? Oh, I use a small white board for those battle modifiers and just dry erase markers.
@ThePlayersAid9 күн бұрын
I had to make those off map sheet sleds, but a few of the titles have them on BGG etc. The GCACW discord is probably a great resource too. The worksheets were provided by a friend, that I've just been photocopying, lol.

Late as far as when the game was released? We have just been very busy and have a large backlog of videos. I have about 20+ other unboxing videos from end of 2023 and 2024 that need to make their way on the Channel. Just too many videos.
