Just found this channel and subbed immediately. We're a very small indoor vertical microgreens and baby greens farm in SC. We source roadside market resellers and a weekly farmers market. We just went open source in June and are posting all our methodologies for all to see and use. ✌️💚

Thanks for the video! I’m in the process of interviewing co-packers and it’s very challenging. I liked your advice on reaching out to multiple co-packers. Some companies are having supply chain issues and others simply will not respond to emails or calls. I’m learning it’s important not to get hung up on one co-packer because you never know which way it will go. One co-packer went out of business right after I signed my agreement and they had been around for over 40 years! Just a reflection of how crazy things have become since the pandemic. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!

I searched everywhere for a copacker/manuf & I couldn’t find any with a low enough MOQ to even begin. I have pretty much given up.

you could actually use a commercial and produce what I call " What's needed" it is a way to get a order and use a commercial kitchen JUST for the order and fill as you go and as you get momentum you can then start renting a commercial kitchen regularly

@@MarketingFoodOnline thanks for the advise, however I need an extruded machine that can make cheeto' like corn chips, i have 3 chip concepts, one is extruded, one is reg potato & one a tortilla chip variety. Not sure how a commercial kitchen can help me on the extruded unless i just do the potato

Hi Damian. For a biscuit recipe, are there co-packers who do the baking as well?
@MarketingFoodOnline Жыл бұрын
hello yes and no when it comes to baked goods and co packers you need to have the volume of orders to make it worth doing contracting out a large order of baked goods ( which have a small window) of expiration is a challeneg you have to have a steady stream of orders

Does the co packer help design the package or do I have to supply them the package with my design from another source?

GREAT question the co packer normally does not supply anything but the assembly of the finalized products

Great advice, although I think it would be helpful for you to change the name of the video to "7 Steps to Choosing the right Co-Packer" rather than "7 Steps to Finding a Co-Packer." You say throughout the video that we shouldn't just Google it to find a co-packer, but you never share how to actually find co-packers who produce our specific type of product. That's what I'm struggling with.

Question what if I want to use a co packed outside the U.S, they’re located in Mexico. Do I need any special licenses? Thank you!

To co packer should we give our product or they already have

Co packers will need all the ingredients to "assemble" your food product

Do i send off for nutrition label testing with my own recipe before contacting co-packer? Im afraid co packer will tweak my recipe and itll need new nutrition facts, causing a delay in labeling and bottling
@MarketingFoodOnline Жыл бұрын
normally you need to have all this done in advance co packers need the materials and they bring it all together for you. Co packers also have NDA you should sign protecting everybody

Hi I'm in Tennessee I just started in a commercial kitchen I make dry/powdered spice blends only I get my spices from reputable sources like amazon, walmart, sam's, Great American spice company, spice barn, my spice sage, etc I have written to the state department of agriculture to ask them if I'm going to be required to have my spice blends tested and they never responded No response to any question I have seems to be the order of the day LOL Can you tell me if it is a requirement to send dry spice blends to a lab for testing since you also make dry spice blends Thanks

Any way to find a copacker that does retort processing of low acid sauces at a small startup scale? I haven’t been able to locate any. People keep telling me there are minimum order quantities of $250,000 or 50,000 units.

Hello I'm in the same. Did you find someone??
@automaton111 Жыл бұрын
@@anymitchelltorrescisneros7758 no. I gave up. I looked in several countries and found nothing. The food business is not worth the hassle anyway. Very low profit margins after you pay all the middlemen. You only make decent money when you are at a huge volume of sales, which is why copackers don’t want to work with small brands. If you can make a product that is naturally shelf stable you are in a better position, but it is still a struggle.
