Great video. With great advice. I needed to send a friend a ramp test video. And found yours. And I'm glad I did. Great tip on the cutting depth. When engraving and cutting the focal point should be on the top still as it will affect the engraving quality. Great video bro 👍🏼 and a new subscriber

Thanks! Yes, if you want a fine engraving while cutting, you'll have to focus at the top.

Great video. Thanks What I do is once I have a general area of focus I do a short board with slightly steeper angle in that general area. So that will show the variation faster.

Can you give an example of when you'd want to intentionally blur something and what it may look like? Thanks
@MakeTechCreate
@MakeTechCreate Жыл бұрын
Blurring the laser can cause the markings on some woods to become darker than having it in focus. Also, blurring the laser is more effective at removing paint and coatings ... for example if you wanted to laser a design on to the coating of a mirror.

@@MakeTechCreate Thank you for the explanation. I appreciate your time. I'll do some test and see how it goes. I just watched your alignment vidoe and it was very helpful. I didn't even know my mirrors were out of alignment. Thanks again!

according to mine my focal point is above the bed supplied by just under an inch does that sound right
@reverse_engineered
@reverse_engineered 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that sounds right. You should be able to adjust the height of the head or the height of the bed, in order to get the focal point where you want it for your material. For engraving, you probably want to focus it on to the surface. For cutting thicker materials, you probably want to focus to half the depth of the material.

Thank you much the video was very helpful....... been using my 2 laser for more than a year now and never made a gauge. The Gauge variance instruction is very useful. Matthew

Hello.Great video.How much did you put angle between wood and bed.Or it doesn't metter?You just putt piece of rubber.
@MakeTechCreate
@MakeTechCreate 4 жыл бұрын
It doesn't really matter. The more angle you have, the less you have to move the laser head.

This is a good way to find rough focus quickly... I use a much more involved but more precise way to do it by pecking holes in paper at incremental distances between the nozzle and paper. I measure the distance variation using a dial indicator and measure the hole size using a inspection magnifier loupe that has an insert with graduated lines inscribed into a glass plate. From there I can figure out the exact smallest spot size and determine the offset between the bottom of the nozzle and the material.But your method is perfect for a quick and dirty way to do it...

Thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll do another video on your method in the future.
