videos like this don't just give you some interesting training methods or something. they give an opportunity to understand how a person with more experience thinks (coach Arti). in my opinion, it is very useful, because you get experience on how to adjust your training (although there was a video on how to do your training, but here you get an example of how to do it correctly). and especially the trick with looking at the angle at which a person holds his hands to read a pass... I didn't think about it, it's very cool)

I love your mindset about those training exercises. Improving our reading skills and our reaction time are probably the most difficult things to work on so I like that you encourage practicing with exercises that will reflect how it would be on the court. It just makes sense ;)

I think the setting machine can be beneficial in some cases. I think it can help players who are fairly new to volleyball help with their spiking approach. When you are a beginner it can be overwhelming doing the approach, while also having a clean spiking technique and reading the set. I think once you are quite comfortable with all of that you should only practice with a setter as you mentioned.

Another great vid :), Interesting points on how you'd improve these excercises, Could you maybe also make a video with your own excercises? like some you could do at home/without a net/with limited amounts of people, maybe even with variations like the ones i've just named. I'd really love to see that, keep up the great work :)

100% agree with the ethos of replicating game-like situations with the drills that we do in practice, something that Karch heavily emphasizes. I agree with all your reasoning in this video, except the last bit. It's important to differentiate between open and closed-loop skills/training. In the case of the acuspike, it'd have a very specific purpose, which'd be nailing down a high contact point in your spike approach. I agree that it doesn't replicate game-like situations, but it's important to understand the drill or the individual's intention for each drill.
