Yeah so Kate's Mom's sister is married to Jan Jensen. Jan is also a person of deep Christian faith. Jan and Julie's kids used to have the same piano teacher as mine and we'd see them at recitals. Very involved and supportive parents and super nice people all of them.

My mom played basketball in the 1950’s so I know basketball it was on 6 on 6 my mom played both guard and forward because she was that good she was 6’1 tall. My sister Lori played too but she wasn’t good as my mom was. She played for Olin Iowa she scored 34 in 1 game. In the 1950’s basketball was big the women’s high school teams. Not the men’s high school teams the women’s teams. My mom meet my dad. Most Iowan knows who Jan Jensen is and Kate Martin, Monika Czinano and Megan Gustafson That’s pretty cool to have your aunt marry now the coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes Basketball Team.

Women's basketball has always been a thing in Iowa. Before the 1970's, they played a version of the game where you could only bounce the ball once. There is an old PBS on the subject that you might enjoy.

I'm too old because I saw Iowa 6 on 6 womens basketball. Each team had 3 offensive players and 3 defensive players Your offensive players had to stay on the one side of the court. The 3 defensive players were on the opposite end. When the defense got the ball they would dribble to mid court and pass to an offensive player. The defense could not pass the mid court line.

6 on 6 basketball is closer to the original version of basketball or netball. There were 3 offensive players and 3 defensive (6 v 6). Offensive players were on one side of the half court and the defensive players were on the other side of the half court line, they did not cross mid court.

These wbb in-industry, same- league, same team, coach and player relationships are crazy and out of control imo. I'm so glad this doesn't happen in men's sports. Could you imagine LeBron dating KD or Luka and Kyrie or Ty Lu dating James Harden's uncle. Crazy work

I'd really have to be naive to think they're aren't gays in any sport. But in men's sports,not with other players and coaches and damn sure not publicly. I love wbb, but the atmosphere and culture is a damn circus

Iowa legalized same-sex marriage in 2009, when Clark was just 7 y/o. They were the 3rd state to do it overall, behind just Massachusetts and Connecticut. Iowa may vote red in their elections, but their local politics are blue - including reduced school lunches, reduced college costs, healthcare affordability, elder-care and child-care affordability.
