I was watching a video about that recent Caitlin Clark Time magazine interview where she said that one of the reasons she struggled at the beginning of the season is because people didn’t really know how to guard her in college and people actually know what they’re doing in the WNBA so there was a huge adjustment. She says that she looks back at her college games and can’t believe how easy they were guarding her, but that’s because most of the players in college aren’t going pro. I can imagine that it would be a similar adjustment for JuJu.
@natureredux195718 күн бұрын
Most of the Guards in College are several inches shorter then CC while in the WNBA, not so much and the FACT is, the Guards are only getting Taller in College and in the WNBA. So it was far more about the Height advantage then anything else. JuJu is 6'2" Tall as a Guard. Name all the WNBA guards that are that TALL that remotely have the Foot Speed to adjust to JuJu. The under 6 feet tall guards have ZERO chance against a 22 year old JuJu and barely a chance against a JuJu fully playing her second year in College.

Juju vs Paige was "must see" tv. Great game. I understand why some college players want to enter the draft early, but I also see the importance of having a college degree to fall back on, if basketball doesn't work out for you. Maybe there should be a compromise of some kind. If you are already a millionaire while in college, you should have the option to enter the draft early after 2 yrs, or stay. Or maybe allow players to enter the draft after 2yrs of college, with the promise to finish getting their degree during the off-season (within 3 yrs.). Let's be real...if you are a millionaire before the age of 21, do you really NEED a college degree?
@knowEgo19 күн бұрын
The fall back on a college degree made sense 25 years ago but not now…essentially college degrees mean nothing unless in a specific field like Law, Medical or STEM- your run of the mill social science or communications degree is just a piece of paper! I disagree with your point that millionaires should have the option to enter the WNBA? That’s just more discrimination and punishing the less fortunate- The WNBA should have the one year policy of college or one year removed from high school!

Geneva - I agree with you 1000 percent. The key word you used in this video is MATURE. The question isn't if someone is talented enough - but are they physically, emotionally and mentally mature enough to handle the pressures of the W? Just look at the NBA. Hey Geneva, I agree with Juju. Women should at the very lease have the option to turn pro whenever they are ready. Just like the guys. But it sounds to me that you think women are not ready to play in the W at 18 or 19. No matter what their skill set is, they just not ready yet. Look at the guys. How many college players come in after 4 years of college? So many guys come in after a couple years of college. Some after only one year of college ball. Who says a woman can't be ready for pro ball after a couple years of college ball? What I agree with is women having the option to apply for the draft when they feel they are ready. And about having a degree to fall back on. Don't most guys who come out early for the NBA, go back and continue their education while in the NBA? And they ultimately get their degree.

I think stars like Juju, Flau’jae, and Angel can out grow college because it’s so much scrutiny from media with little pay off and development. If schools played more ranked matchups like ND vs UT or USC v UConn during the season, then the season would be more competitive and they’d be forced to develop. These Marshmellow schedules are boring to talented stars.

One of the most disenfranchised rules in all America- I hope she fights this rule and can get it reversed! Also this is not about players not getting their degrees; the WNBA plays 40 games during the Summer months so you have plenty of time to get your degrees! This is about protecting women’s college basketball! Something that people should understand about NIL deals is the players have to go out and sell themselves to Brands and Corporations- there’s no set salary and only Star players will see benefits from NIL while NCAA gets let off the hook. People think NIL means colleges pay the players and that’s simply not the case!

Juju Watkins and Caitlin Clark may not have the same physical build, but Juju should receive the same treatment as Caitlin. If Juju can endure having her eardrum damaged or being body-slammed several times, while referees turn a blind eye during her rookie year, she has demonstrated the toughness Caitlin has endured her first year in the WMBA without affecting her game. It is important to remember that Caitlin will approach 2026 differently than 2025. I believe Caitlin will be fully prepared to face any challenges, both physically and mentally, on the basketball court next year. After leaving college without a break, entering the WNBA, playing against top teams, and still managing to perform exceptionally while breaking records, 2026 will be interesting. It is unfair to compare these two basketball players right now. If Juju goes through a fraction of what Caitlin experienced, a yes, fair argument can be made after the 2026 season. By then, Caitlin will likely have broken even more records. Those two will draw in a huge crowd.
