Should he have a taken a different approach, yes. However, he’s not a bad coach. He’s just not the people person the public wanted him to be. Long seasons with coaches, and players go through heavy ruff patches. What people don’t understand, not unless you played football on those top tier levels. ‘’I been there’’. Those next levels require a different mindset not everyone can do this. That’s why only 1% makes it. It’s cut throat, nobody is going to hold your hand, as a player you are renting the jersey and as a coach you are renting the whistle. All he asks is for players to study the playbook, come in watch film, ask questions if you have them. Assignment, alignment, technique. Execute what you supposed todo and take it serious. That’s all he wanted them to do in the show.

Even if it’s not caught or sometimes not necessarily close to the WR it was still a bang bang play. With a helmet on he doesn’t have the same vision. I don’t mind the hit I see it everyday. Especially cuz Travis went for the ball. If he didn’t then I’d say yea it was dirty. Also the guy didn’t target Travis head or knees so it was right in the target zone

Prime was right to protect his quarterback, wide receivers, and Travis Hunter who plays both starting wide receiver and cornerback. Prime mentioned Travis in particular because he didn't want anyone on the offense putting serious blocks on Travis when he is on defense. Even professional boxers take measures to protect themselves in sparring, so they don't get injured during training for a fight.

In college when we faced this situation, it gave many of us non super star players, although we were also starters, the feeling that we really weren't a team after all. Sometimes, then, we didn't make any on field special efforts for the super stars during the game. That's what gets created. Facts. If we're not a team in practice, we aren't a team in a game either. So what happens when I'm a starter but not a super star, and because I have to go full speed to keep my spot, I end up injured and lose my scholarship? Then what was in it for me? If I was a true leader and a true teammate, I would have stepped up and told coach I got to go full speed because these are my brothers.

@phillycheese9332 ай бұрын
@erickennedy8534 it doesn't work that way for 18-21 yr old kids. They will think just the opposite. Do you think Shaddeur got sacked that many times because of poor blocking skills only? Look at the film. There were plenty occasions where O line "dealt with it" by letting D line slide right in for a big shot on Shaddeur. But, the backup qb, who had to bust his butt with everyone else in practice, look at how the O line went to battle for him vs Utah. Why? Because they are true brothers in the game. The backup stood in the pocket 40 times to pass and was only sacked twice. He completed 70% of his passes. Brother will go to war with brother. But if you not my brother, you are on your own.

@kevinchristie49722 ай бұрын
@burny890 1. Rick went on to win the Heisman. Nothing soft (on the field) about him. 2. Every team does this. Do you think they would have allowed you to hit Mike Vick, Reggie Bush, Matt Linhart, Vince Young...or any other star needlessly in practice?? These type players all have multi million dollar Llyods of London insurance policies for a reason. There is politics at play. When powerful boosters make it clear to the head coach that X player is to be protected at all cost.....that coach tends to listen. 3. UT has always been physical on defense. Unfortunately, physicality alone doesnt always equate to wins. I wont even start listening the defensive players who went to the league during his tenure. 4. Mack Brown won plenty. His problems started when Bob Stoops showed up. UT tends to be ready for big games. The issue is the games we expect to win. Everyone brings their A game against Texas. It's an emotional game and the predominantly emotional team is going to win out almost everytime. That coupled with an offensive genius like Art Briles @ Baylor spells trouble . Then you have an extremely emotional , disciplined and physical K State team that is ALWAYS hard to beat. Lastly, consider HS recruiting. Most "5" stars have maxed out their potential or are highly overated. That is why, OU, OSU, KState can take a 3 star and turn him onto a 1st round pick. The 3-4 stars usually havent even scratched the surface of how good they could be.

To be fair, he said “don’t touch the receivers” meaning lots of guys on that roster. I’m assuming he singled out Travis by name because he’s playing both ways, so someone might try to tee off on him when he’s lined up at corner. Practice like you play. This is why so many NFL teams look like shit for the first month. None of them practice full speed in pads anymore Also way more fuckin injuries now cuz of this. Practice is the most important part of sports. If u take practice serious then come game time it’s just reactionary

Damn Smitty land your plane. You talked for 2 minutes but didn't say a thing. You sound like Kamala Harris with that opening 2 minute word salad. 😂

They won the game that Travis got hit hurt in. But they lost every game after he came back.

@@jamalhammonds Man honestly if you follow my page and my segments. Then you will I see how I take a real and honest approach at Colorado. I did some segments on how Travis has a negative effect on the receivers. He’s very good obviously. But it does takes away from the other good receivers. And they lose as well.

Don’t touch Travis is wild because it look like they are scared to even jam Travis or block him when he at DB or throw him off a block when he on offense even at the end of the play it look like you can’t even wrap Travis up or thud him on the well off videos that shit is wild

Had to cut this off after the question was asked “After two years you expect depth of Oregon etc..” and dude without hesitation says yes. This is for clicks. Obviously.

I love Jb an usually agree with him but he is wrong here. The difference between him getting hurt in practice compared to a game is glaring. I’d rather have him get hurt in a game rather than a practice which means nothing

JB really showed how he’s a hater. He keyed in on Shadeur & Travis Prime mentioned the receivers also. In latter practices he also included all QB’s & WR’s. JB exuded to screaming, hollering & walking off the set which proves his envy, malice and hatred towards COACH PRIME & Colorado. Smitty just looked at him clueless & In disbelief as JB jumped out of his chair and went bolistic. That’s why JB is a felon washed up Coach that no one wants to have anything to do with him.😢 TRUE DISGUST & DISGRACE
