I have a question. why do we choose what to become when reaching the other side,when clearly turning into a queen would be the best option
@opendoorchess Жыл бұрын
Hi Chan! That's a great question! The truth is, promoting a pawn to a Queen is not always the best option, and sometimes. There are times that changing to a Queen will result in a stalemate. Under-promotion is the term you'll want to look into. Happy playing!
@howardhill33953 жыл бұрын
Coach Dat (or anyone who know): on the Knight's movement, you say 2 steps forward and 1 to the side. How about 1 step forward and 2 to the side? Still an L. Is that allowed?

What if you dont have extra pieces to promote the pawn when it goes to other side? Also the knight it moves in L someone said it can move 1 the slide 2 to the side is that true??? What if something is in the way say if queen moving your color or other color if its your color u must stop in front of that piece? And if it is other team color u take that piece correct?
@CoachDat3 жыл бұрын
When we were kids, we used an Upside Down Rook to represent the extra Queen. If there are no other pieces, you can take something to use it to represent the piece that you want. I teach 1 -2 - Slide to the side b/c I'm all about where the Knight is facing. AS long as the Knight lands on the proper square, you can say it however you like =) ... I need a little clarification on the last question.... if you want that piece to be out of the way, then you must find a way to capture it or find a way around it. If it's your own color, you cannot move through it. I hope this answers your question.
