@@AH-te5gs agreed! Producers thought quickly to make it good for tv, because I have seen on other versions where contestants just disappeared. So I think it was staged publicly for dramatic effect as opposed to the contestant disappearing quietly. Brilliant tv if you ask me

I suspect the producers told him to do it this way and he accepted. I don't doubt that he might have wanted to go it differently, but out of respect he went with the instructions of the producers who run the show. Can't have been easy doing it on stage. The producers told him to do it this way, and he can't speak out because all the cast have singed a contract which limits what they can say. If people can't see this is scripted, then I have lost hope in humanity! Leave Matthew alone! He is a great singer with a handsome Disney face! The rest of us that are not idiots think you made the right choice and wish you all the best! Remember people that these shows these days never produce lasting singers that hit the charts!!! The first few seasons of idol and x factor produced some lasting talent like Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert, guy Sebastian, Jessica mauboy, Leona Lewis, one direction, little mix etc… Very few singers actually get to have a real career and the longer these shows go on, the less chance people get to have a real career after the show! I don’t like the knockout rounds in that 2 great singers are pitted against each other . If they both deliver equal stellar performances, one has to go. The winners of the less talented battles advance while the potential best singer was eliminated because their battle was a toss up.
