I have both the titanium spork and a medium spork made of plastic. People have been using plastic WITHOUT the BPA free stamp all their life without health issues. ^^ The reason I have the one made in titanium is that the other platic ones breaks easily.

Oh, I agree. Trust me, im old! But you have to admit, back then there was a much better standard food supply and other less crap in the air. If changing something as simple as a spoon helps a bit, im in! I have plenty of other bad habits.

Considered using this in my BOB. Used to have one in my Work bag. It's great, but I had to take a stiff paper-towel folded over a few times and secured with scotch tape to cover the tines on the fork portion. Otherwise, they would have poked or ripped up my pack. So, that's one solution to the problem. Just make the paper cover stiff enough not to fall off, but just loose enough to slip on and off easily. In the end I decided to go with a Snow peak Ti utensil set. Separate utensils, and they come in a nylon pouch with a flap secured by velcro to cover the fork's tines completely. Just a better set-up. Really surprised no other has come up with such a simple solution.

It is Titanium. It is not coated. They just polished the ends. If you are so convinced about chemicals in plastic, what do you think would go into coating? It is just plain and simple titanium.

gh0st1976: My thoughts exactly. Worried about chemicals in plastic, but thrilled the titanium spork has some sort of coating on the eating surface? And, what is the concern about using a Titanium utensil when the food was almost certainly cooked in Aluminum or Stainless Steel pots and pans? (As can be seen at the 2:00 minute mark)? Slicing an onion or potato with a Stainless Steel knife? Let's not even mention that mild steel can of beans in the background..... Very confused by the "logic" here. Cool utensil though. Mine is Stainless Steel. Just like 99% of the flatware in my kitchen, (and the majority of everyone else's too.

@@angryagain68 First I don't agree that a stainless fork has a metal taste when using, I do notice it with an aluminum fork. But as far as the pot or knife used it's not that it makes the "food taste like it" it's the taste you get when you put the metal in your mouth/tongue, you taste it. Again, I don't feel that a stainless fork had a metal taste, but pointing out he is using a steel knife or the pot he cooked in really has nothing to do with it unless he puts the pot or knife in his mouth.

@@angryagain68 I have two pieces of cook gear that are aluminum. Personally I never use them. Used once in a very rare while should be okay. But I'd rather not chance it. My main cook kit is S.S., and have a secondary one that is Ti. Have a new cook kit on the way to me that is a little bigger than my S.S. one. That one will also be Ti. Honestly, for anyone who uses their cook kit on a regular basis, they're just better off paying one time for a good Ti set, crying once about the cost, and then enjoying it for years. S.S. recommended only for those who genuinely don't mind the increased weight, along with the lower price point.

Yes, titanium really isn't that strong when it's this thin, they sell titanium sporks similar at wal-mart in the camping section, they're extremely light & fairly durable, but i would say it's slightly stronger than a regular table fork.

we focus on preparedness all the time and without this spoon you might be full of toxic chemicals and then you won't be a team player... certainly not a leader! that is why you need this titanium spoon. ISHYGDDT

The 3-in-one Light My Fire is a horrible design. The fork and knife are combined on one side, so when you hold the food with the fat fork, you can't cut it. And when you want to use the tiny knife part, you must use your fingers to hold the food. Either way, it doesn't do anything well.
