The timing of step one is all different depending on your opponent hinting and how far your opponent is. When you recieve service the step one has to be very small and sharp. It has to be done just after your opponent made shot (Impact) Lee

why is it necessary to do those side to side steps right before you do the step 1. Can you just stand still then do the step 1?

Coach Lee, where the gravity of the body should be placed when doing this step one? In the center of the body or in one of the feet?

It should be centre of the body. That way you will be able to change to any direction. Lee
