Hi Coach Kennie, nice to see you on your video. We met in Thailand at the Bahn Thongyord last summer. My kids are coach Toby's students. Hope you remember! :-) Can you explain / show the running backward and forward across from right corner to the left (back) corner, with the overhead forehand. My backhand is strong and i have a very bad habit of using it all the time. However, after a few strong clear, it get very tired and lost the power to clear. Recently, when play with the advance opponents, they started to notice that. So, I tried to rotate to an overhead forehand instead, but my back-step to the far-left is horrible and not fast enough. Often, when i ran back step across the court, i would mis-stepping (twist an ankle) and fail. :-(
@CoachKennieAsuncion
@CoachKennieAsuncion 4 жыл бұрын
Hello!!! And yes i remember meeting you!! I am glad to hear that though the backhand has been your habit you are still trying to change it. From the front, after you hit a forehand shot, you normally hop back 1 step with the same dominant leg in front in case another front shot comes then you’re still there but when the shuttle is already to the back on the left you turn diagonally with dominant hand and leg to the back and skip your way to the area. Do not go criss crossing your leg as you can trip and fall. (I hope i am able to explain it clearly) but will note down to make a video on it.😁🏸😁🏸 btw, have your kids continued on with badminton? 🏸🏸

Contrary to many people, moving forward was very difficult for me. Looks like I misunderstood the front court footwork with running. I was always using steps to move forward and was failing to reach on time. This makes it clear. Also, the last advice to keep your feet light is underrated. Keeping the feet light will make you more mobile and prevent injuries. Thanks a lot Kennie.

How much time to do this and how many sets?
@CoachKennieAsuncion
@CoachKennieAsuncion 3 жыл бұрын
Do 10-20 x 3 sets each day just to remind yourself how to move and eventually it will come naturally😁🏸

What is the advantage of moving sideways instead of backrun. For forward it's running movement and for backward why not backrun. Please explain madam is there any specific advantage with sideway back movement.

Backrun plain and simple strains your lower back. Imagine playing the entire game where you keep bending your upper body backwards... the sideways movement distributes your weight and lessens the strain😁🏸

Mam, for me i feel a bit different in my backward movement while swinging, so is it normal or what has to be done to improve

Well we can vary in our movements but whats important is if it works for u. Like if you can maximize your speed with how you do it.😁🏸

Doesn’t look very quick if opponent does shooting lob. How to move backwards even faster?
@CoachKennieAsuncion

In this video, I am stressing on how to move back from the front with the main focus to not run backwards as it will strain the back. This is more of a beginners guide. For advanced players pacing will be different and movements will be much faster but still with the same idea of not running backwards... thanks! 😁🏸

Is there a foot movement for left handed player. If there is, I am not able to find....
@CoachKennieAsuncion
@CoachKennieAsuncion 4 жыл бұрын
Yes there is... everything I taught with footwork you do with opposite leg. For example in this video, I move back with my right leg at the back, you do yours with left ... i will do my best to come up with videos explaining further for left handed people... thank u! 😁🏸
