Thanks so much for these Level 1 and 2 videos! I got up to Basic 3 as a kid and am returning now to 1 and 2 as an adult. These videos are great reminders of the tips and pitfalls and will help me during my practice sessions between classes.

Hey everyone! Wanted to ask a favor If you enjoy my channel, please remember to subscribe! Most of my viewers are not subscribed. With more likes and subscribers, my videos will be “recommended” by KZbin to reach more skaters worldwide. I will always continue to post FREE KZbin and Instagram skating content to give back to the skating community. It has been such a joy the past year making videos and connecting with you all. Thank you for your love and support!

Thank you for your kind and free help in how to learn to skate. Your videos are great and it is much fun to experience progress in mastering the skills. Without the videos, learning would be so much more difficult. I remember the days before KZbin. One could try books that explained the skill in words and photos. This is a world apart and pure joy. Youhoo!

Thank you so much for these videos! I'm going skating with my friend tomorrow at a local rink, but I for the life of me can't skate! I can rollerblade, roller skate, and even ski! But ice skating? nEVER, I CAN'T! I'm gonna try doing the things you said in your first video and maybe a few of these ones here, thank you!

I am brand new to figure skating, 3 weeks into my classes! Why shouldn't you push off with the toe picks?

Thank you for these videos! How can I make these elements more excited for my students? They just want to learn spins! Also I’m running out of things to do in a 30 minute private lesson at this level. Any suggestions?

Make up sequences of skills for the kiddos to do, for an example; two forward swizzles, march 4 times, snowplow, hop, 2 backward swizzles. Also we play games like Simon Says, Red Light Green Light and Follow the Leader. In private lessons I like to focus on just a few skills at a time and review already learned skills. I find that course of action to be the most beneficial.

I do take issue with the forward stroking. Like shouldn't we learn the one foot glide before we go off pushing and rising a leg?

You explained it better than my instructor lol

What’s the difference between the bonus skill “curves” here and two foot slalom?
@natashaolson66122 жыл бұрын
Curves are more of a pump with the outside foot and then both feet coming together where slaloms both feet stay parallel to eachother as you twist your torso slightly and lean into the curves.

What's the difference between scooter pushes and stroking?
@natashaolson66122 жыл бұрын
Stroking is alternating, left..right..left, while scooter pushes will be with only the left or only the right.

I am an adult skater back on the ice after a 40+ year hiatus. Is it necessary to do Basic 1-6 skills in group before moving on to other things in USFSA? My rink requires us to do 8 lessons for each level before testing out. I am comfortable with all the level 1 kills and half of the level 2 and I really can't see myself spending 8 lessons on stuff for each level before testing out. THey said they might not be willing to test me out early. Wondering if I should just do private lessons instead? what would you recommend? At $120 for each 8 week session, I think money would be better spent on private.
@abandonrz Жыл бұрын
It sounds like an private instructor would be better for you, since they can see what you need more work on especially being off the ice as long. Then you will not be force practicing the things you already know very well.
