We are a wing T team... but we have transitioned to new concepts out of the gun t. That's have helped our passing game tremendously we have always been solid at running the ball but now we have dabbled with the RPO game and we have had some great success now teams can't just load the box on us anymore.

Who am I to judge the 🐐 of the Air Raid, but I think if Leach wasn’t so pure he would have a championship by now. He could window dress plays better and add a few more runs in. He reminds me of Gus. Their offense was on the cutting edge. Their failure to adapt is why defenses can adjust on the fly.

Hey coach , I am having trouble with the formation of the plays. In this video you mention about 4 formations that you would run. Does that mean all the concepts inside outside zone counter stick corner cross etc… would they all be ran out of each formation going left and right ? So would it be 104 plays ? 13 plays going left and right would be 26. But that would that be for 1 formation. Would you do them for the other 3 formations as well? Or are we just picking any formations and having 26 plays total left and right? Any advice is appreciated.

Hey coach. Our team has just lost in 3 straight semifinal appearances with only 2 regular season losses in 3 years. We are losing a lot of great players cuz our senior class was one of the best we had in about a decade. Our offense was not that good 2 of the 3 years and the 1 year we had an insane power RB that would break every tackle and would get 10-15 yards per carry on bad days. Our head coach always wanted to have good lineman and blockers before anything else, and when we had great skill players he wouldn’t utilize them. We were winning games putting up average of 14points per game and our highest scoring game was 28. Our defense was what carried us every year allowing only 3 points per game average. Our DC is a genius and I am convinced we will still have a good defense for years to come. I’m just wondering a team like this would be able to go from semifinal appearance to state championship if we switched to this simple air raid offense. The OC job is up for grabs and it’s between me and a good friend of mine who I know is always listening to me for any football advice for schemes, plays, installs, concepts, etc or anything really. And we will both be on the same staff no matter who gets it so we will still essentially have the same knowledge and scheme and play calling. You think this simple air raid offense can take this team to the next level even tho we are considered to be at a somewhat high level?

@@CoachMcKie I feel like I so often see spread teams say it’s all about equating numbers and giving what the defense takes but then they throw against a 5-man box with a 5-man line and it’s 1st and 10. Is there a reason for that? Like, even if it’s a standard cover not trying to take advantage of a pressing corner or a WR screen?

Do you believe this will work at the 8,9,10 year old Youth level??? I feel the 11,12 year old division in the league I have coached in, can handle running the Air Raid. I have seen people try spread and Air Raid in the young age group and gotten destroyed or quickly abandoned the offense. I'm a single wing guy, but if I ran an Air Raid I'd have Inside Zone, Fly, wide/outside zone as my run game.

@@CoachMcKie 3 days with 1.5 hrs of practice. Does it come down to the right drills and skills? I'm a single Wing and spread single wing guy that uses fly sweep series. I tend to be run heavy because I was not a QB and most of the guys I have volunteered with weren't either. My interest is for when my son plays and I coach again.

@@johnsergesketter5196 I was a sub par lineman in HS and had no college aspirations or ability. In 1993, I read the original Run and Shoot book by Tiger Ellison and combined it with some classic Joe Gibbs run concepts. It looked like an even simpler version of what Coach McKie presented here. I think we had 10 total plays and ran 4 of them almost exclusively. The players were aged 11-13, and the previous season had been blown out of every game and barely scored because their coach was an arrogant prick who didn't know what he was doing.... that was me too. 😁 We lost the first game of the season and the championship game to the same, talented and well coached, team. We averaged a little over 30 points per game. Our quarterback was reluctant to play QB at the start of the season because he had dyslexia, went to special classes to learn how to read, and none of his other coaches had confidence in his ability. He ended up calling his own formations and plays until we were so far ahead that I made the team huddle. Also, I was the entire coaching staff, with occasional help from some of the dads. I'm no great coach, not even close. But my experience has shown me that this kind of system, if it is practiced correctly, can work at the levels you're asking about. Good luck!

I wouldn’t run inside zone at the youth level. Atleast not ages 8-12. You will be facing 5-3 and 6-2 fronts. I’d run off tackle and jet sweep plays at that level.

I run air raid for 5th and 6th grade, inside zone and belly base run plays, I have consistently competed for leauge championships with different kids every yr. It definitely works, work progressions with qb and run against air tons of reps. Best part is your backups will be stud defenders after a half season after manning up on the edges all fsll
