Yo I'm constantly shadow boxing and I've ALWAYS, well sense i was a kid boxing in the backyard, wanted to be in a gym. But I always have excuses or let something hold me back. Watching this video actually reassured me. I know I'm far from great, but my best attribute next to adapting, is being couchable. No more excuses.....

Got to get the fundamentals down , footwork , stance , the job , cross , check hook one two combos ect . Footwork and hip movements is everything! It’s what takes you to the target and away . If you’re flat footed like canelo it will never be good . Canelo is always looking for an advantage most his fights have been from guys 30 pounds lighter plus rehydration clauses ect . Aspire to be like tank or Crawford mayweather or Marquez was a great boxer from Mexico also David benevidez is another great one to watch .! Good luck bud I grew up with the same background like you but when I was 18 I went to an actual boxing gym and learned real quick that all the sparring me and my friends did In the backyard gave me no benefit because we weren’t throwing punches correctly and had zero footwork

I did other martial arts when I was younger but came to boxing late. I had a heart attack at 56 that almost took me out and started training boxing as part of my recovery process. It wasn’t easy. Ten months later I had my first Blue Collar Boxing match at 57 and got my hand raised at the end. I did another last year at 58 (against a 31 year old that had 40+ lbs on me) and won again. It’s a great sport. I agree with your list but would add “Start young”. Very good content, keep it up.

When I was about 10 years old, I wanted to box. My mother took me to boxing classes and the first time I sparred I got beaten by a kid that was 2/3 my height. Being a big kid wasn't enough and I ended up crying. Today, I am looking forward to re-take on boxing, and my wish is to actually being hit as much as possible (Not being masoquist). Now, the idea of being on a fight and getting hit is nothing but exciting.

Update… I’ve been finding tf out and I’m ABSOLUTELY about that life! Being diabetic sucks really bad, it’s really tough when sugar is too high, nearly impossible when sugar is low… but most times I just need a 15 minute break and I’m back to training. Plus most the times my sugar is under control, just got to eat healthy ALL the time. Which lowkey gives me an extra lil advantage

Physically, you need good eyesight, long arms, and big hands. Good peripheral vision is also a great advantage. Some guys no matter how tough they are bleed easy, called Bleeders. Jerry Quarry was an example of this. That is a big disadvantage.
