I did my childhood railfanning at one grandma's house in Villisca and the others in Creston! Great to see these familiar sights.

Excellent video! Very surprised to see such a well put together and narrated video from someone with so few subscribers! What a shame!

You did pretty well with the narration on this video!

Excellent video!! How many trains average through Red Oak? I live in Omaha and enjoy rail fanning but the BNSF and UP have slowed to a trickle here! 😞 SUBSCRIBED!!

@@rickdee67 It used to be more, these days it can vary but usually somewhere between 10 and 18 Often more during the fall harvest season because there’s more grainers and local traffic.

Typically 20-24 over a full 24 hrs. Anything over 24 is a good day, and 30+ is a *great* day. The fact of the matter is, most of the traffic is coal, so as plants either convert to natgas or close for good, the train counts are steadily declining.

Creston is a crew change point on this sub. I have a nephew who is an engineer/conductor depending on the needs at the time who makes the run between Creston and Lincoln NB.

Those back-to-back coal trains were rerouted Georgia Power trains headed to Plant Scherer near Macon, GA.
