Dude, I use almost the exact same set up. I utilize a figure 9 from niteeyes instead of the wasp and 550 cord because I get that stuff from the national guard. I fly my tarp in a diamond. Allows for more room under the tarp during rain but if a blower is coming I use the A frame. Great video.

I run my tarp under my ridge line. This is important with some tarps where friction/wear could reduce the life of the tarp or mess with the center seam and reduce waterproofing.

In my opinion at 10 x 10 tarp is good for bushcrafting but that's about it. Yes it'll work but like you said you have to do it in a diamond if you're having bad weather. If you have a bigger tarp you can keep it in the same set up and it's not that much heavier. you can get a nice 12 by 12 tarp on Amazon for $47 and it comes with the steaks the guidelines and everything you need.

I'm loving that continuous ridgeline! I'm currently using attachments at each end of the tarp. Are the prussick loops and the ridge line the same cordage? I was under the impression the prussicks needed to be a smaller diameter to bite the line (bankline on paracord).

Ha ha ha! Tape measurer and the Pythagorean theorem to string a tarp... LOL.. Now I'm seeing with all the 550 cord and continuous ridge line turning into a bird's nest similar to a bad fishing trip where your reel get's all knotted up.. he he he.. Now I'll have to lose my mountain house freeze dried 22 oz porter house with salad and sweet potato fries to make room for another 1000 feet of paracord. Yes. Dan.. this is like the one a while back I posted that had your ribs busting with laughter. (using boiled rocks for heat episode). Sorry.. had to go there. Great vid... Not sure why everyone has to get so scientific over stringing a ridge line. But hey.. It is a millennial's word out there today.. What happened to just.. 'Run a line over your hammock, make taught, drape a tarp and stake? Such insanity.. LOL.. But the tape measurer was hilarious. Thanks.

I use heavy cotton cord on ridge line to catch water coming down an let it drip well away from tarp an hammock.
@snaponjohn1004 жыл бұрын
John Fuller A much lighter set up would be to use the Dynamo ridge line and cut short pieces of that cotton cord about the length of a shoelace and use a hits just to hang them on the line just underneath the edges of the tarp. They need to be under the tarp. When the water runs down the line it’ll hit those knots and run down that cotton cord and drip to the ground.

Thank you for the detailed footage and explanation of the dutch stuff. It's important to know how to use something before you order it (wasps, worms, fleas, ticks, ants, etc). While Dutch seems like a nice dude and sells some cool stuff, his demonstration videos of his products are pure shit. I hope you're getting some kind of kick back from him.

Hey be nice to Dutch, sure his production quality is lacking and you can usually hear water running in his background, but he’s getting better, his camera man is a lot steadier these days
