I'd say being a millionaire in your 30s is incredible considering over 50% of six-figure earners are living paycheck to paycheck (source: Time.com).

It's 1/2 of the that couple here! Fair criticism, and only so much time for nuance. I had 6 figures of student loan debt to overcome starting in 2012 when I started working full time, and my wife worked through NP school from 2012-2015 to limit, but not totally avoid loans. Also bought 1st home in 2013. Got student loan free in 2017, which is year we discovered FIRE/started to own personal finance. Had a number of other dumb money moves-new car, whole life, so I would say despite ourselves, we got to where we are all while having 3 kids, moving to our 2nd home, and having a pretty great life in the midst of it all. They both had high income profession, so of course they can easily save up to coast fire. This is not as impressive as families that have limited income & achieve fire. Not Impressed

That's a fair criticism, and as we say, we have chosen professions that give us big shovels. As a counter, the number of other professionals in our field who make as much if not more than us hear of us cutting back on work and say "It must be nice" is too high to count at this point. Easier than those who make less? Yes. But still not common among our peers.

Income will be a big factor..but it will not be a determining factor for success.. A lot of high earners are still broke because they lack discipline..
