@@Unknown_Ooh many people were involved, of course. I was the onsite Sperry Marine tech that assembled and commissioned the system including the intigraded bridge and steering. So, while you are being a bit rude, I did literally commission the nav system.

Big boat for such a small crew. We had 4 SN, BM3, BMC as a deck dept on a 140 and all we could do was keep up with the painting needs. Good job with the tour Capt.

That was nice, but would have liked to have seen more, such as the living spaces an Enginerooms. Those were pretty much my world aboard ship. Back in my time had three Breakers that I am aware of ( remember ). The Eastwind, Westwind, and Northstar ( I think it was ). never was on one, but do do a 9+ Month Overseas deployment ( from the time we left til the time we got back ).

Several Wind Class breakers, Northwind, Eastwind, Southwind, Westwind, Burton Island. The last to be decomissioned was the Northwind (WAGB 282) in 1989. USCG RET CWO4

Granted, I've served only on one. Never heard that on the bridge. But I've heard it on non-icebreakers though.

@@legostarstorm false. Polar sea is inactive. The Polar Star is the only heavy ice breaker in the fleet, and the polar sea's sister ship. The Healy is a medium icebreaker and a different class of ship altogether.

@@DGvelocity Correct but it doesn't look like the Star will be doing much breaking. They break down way too much and is at the point of being in dock side for a long long time. If it got stuck, they will end up having to leave it in the ice till spring thaw LOL. Besides, no disrespect to the Healy and her crew but IMO, it should not be a WAGB. It should be what it was designed for. SCIENCE. Maybe WSGB. Looks too top heavy. I'd thinki a 15deg roll and it would keep going.

@@jeepcreepit5404 From what i hear, it's expected to survive until at least 2021. It's the only active HEAVY icebreaker. Healy is a med icebreaker... And whenever i think about wanting to be on an icebreaker, that's my main fear. being trapped on a broken down ship surrounded by ice. 😂

@@DGvelocity I knew a dude who was on the Sea or Star that got stuck in the ice back in the early 80's. They were flying everyone off to Pt Barrow but the ice opened up and what was left of the crew piloted it out while they were flying everyone back out to the ship. He was a Radioman or something to do with communciations. He also knew a butch of guys on a smaller ice breaker that had its side ripped open and almost sunk in the mid 80's. Something Wind I think.

Why is there just 1 icebreaker in the US Military with the resulting melting of the Polar Ice caps due to climate change & both our Allies & Adversaries outnumbering us as all are engaged in gaining access to the rich mineral deposits now more easily accessible under the permafrost as more direct sea routes to such are accessible as a result? Thank you.

Is THAT what the United States is going to annex the Canadian Arctic Archipelago with? "“We recognize that Russia is not the only nation making illegitimate claims. The U.S. has a long-contested feud with Canada over sovereign claims through the Northwest Passage” - Mike Pompeo .... Some Friend,....Some ally. ... Some neighbour. If Healy is all you've got left to take over the Northwest Passage, The USA is seriously "all hat and no cattle"
