The first day of my two week long journey across the UK!
I started at St Bees and walked along the coast of the Irish sea before heading Eastbound towards my stop for the night.
I encountered plenty of funny animals, nice locals (the lovely RNLI volunteers offered me snacks for my journey after I stopped there to fill up my water bottles!) and other hikers I met along the way.
(Tracey’s place: abnb.me/jIAamZ...
Please note that like everywhere, her prices may vary and so can’t promise it’ll be £30 like it was for me)
(EDIT: Her property is turned off at the moment so unsure when the link will work, when she re-opens)
---
Thank you to everyone watching, I appreciate each and every one of you!
If you like, you can buy me a drink here! - www.buymeacoff...
Also, my brother and I hiked Hadrian’s Wall to raise money for Mind, we got 55 miles in before we were forced to cut it short due to food poisoning from The Twice Brewed Inn on our third night! We're better now, and will continue the walk soon, so if you’d like to donate and support Mind I’ll add the link below! It’d mean so much, and for a good cause!

34 years ago in May 1990 my late pal and myself picked a pebble from St. Bees. We tried to carry it to Robin Hood's Bay, but we took to the high Fells after Ennerdale Water. My mate tripped on High Crag and on the day five his leg was black and blue from knee to ankle. We failed. Our first leg was to Ennerdale Bridge, we had our lunch on Dent and remember taking off our boots to sit and bathe our feet on the footbridge in Nannycatch Beck. Happy Days. All the best, Peter.

Oh blimey, that sounds painful! Good on you both for setting out to do this, and that’s good going doing the whole stretch from St Bees to Ennerdale! I only did a short day the first day as my train got in late & I walked around the coast & into the coves before starting the hike. Sounds like you still had a great adventure despite finishing early!🥾⛰️

First time watching you so Good Luck. I have completed this Hike twice, once in each directions, just as I did the Pennine Way. I know the route and enjoyed my hikes each time and I hope you do too. My backpack was slightly heavier than yours at 25kg, but I still enjoyed every step of the way. Happy Hiking. Being retired now for 6 months and just waiting a month or two before I am off again on another LD Hike, not sure how many I have left in me, but I will keep hiking while I can. Previous hikes include the Pennine Way South to North and North to South, C2C West to East and East to West, North Norfolk Coast Path (Hunstanton to Lowestoft), Lands End to John OGroats, then John OGroats to Lands End, and in 2000 I completed the Coastal Walk/Tour of Great Brittian. Now retired but I still enjoy watching others to refresh my memory of Hikes I have completed. Tony in Essex.

@@Orenjen All I can say about the weight of my pack would be 4 months previous to starting to Hike the UK Long Distance Trails I was in the Army for a few years and the Army Packs weigh 30 to 35kg and where expected to cover 30km per day, so in hindsight my 25kg pbackpack was lighter that I was used to. Thank you happy to hear it! Yeah I’m putting out 14 videos for each day, and after I’ll be releasing a longform video of all the days in one… I’m expecting it to be 7+ hours long 😬 this is for a couple reasons, as different people prefer different forms of media; some prefer a looong video all in one, and others prefer to watch day by day in different videos. Also, if I were to just release the one long video, it’d take me that long to edit & put it together my channel would be radio silent for months 😂

Nice video, is it possible for you to turn the background music down a little when you’re talking, sometimes it’s difficult to hear you properly? Do you use the mic on the device you record with or have you got a separate one, it might help with wind noise if you get one with a fluffy cap…. 😂

@Orenjen
@Orenjen 5 ай бұрын
It’s possible to see Buttermere as you ascend up from Ennerdale Valley/Black Sail Hut before going back down towards Honister & Borrowdale. Though you’ll see it from above as you’ll be atop the fells, unless you take a day out to go down to it, you don’t physically pass it. Windermere is a little too far south of this trail, but you pass right through Borrowdale, Grasmere & Patterdale! It also takes you up to some of the popular tarns in the fells such as Grizedale Tarn & Angle Tarn 😁
