Love the way you have simplified the Paradox in many areas, reducing the build time and complexity of the standard boat. Your tiller and rope steering is well thought out, and your hatch design is very well conceived. Your boat suits the way many will actually use their Paradox boats - shorter trips without going on the 300 mile Everglades Challenge. Fantastic.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share all the wonderful design information for your boat. I like everything about it. I even like the yellow color. It's so important to be visible around so many other crazy boaters and you can't get much better than the yellow I think it's great.

Sven Yrvind sails these little sail boats all over the world. And there's channels like Sailing Wave Rover and Ocean Capable Small Sailboat are both doing a Small Sailboat build right now.

These remarkable little craft have established themselves as capable cruisers for adventuring with up to two Crew. To be able to sail from inside the cabin in atrocious weather is immensely appealing, with experienced Crew not actually bringing wet weather gear with them! For the cold and wet UK that really is advantageous, likewise a Lenihan Charcoal Heater for winter. Your boat is gorgeous, thank you for sharing it with your enthusiastic viewers.

Very thought out. Great construction too. I want to build a small, very wide beamed, lobster style boat for fishing. Something I won’t be afraid to take offshore.

What a great little boat. I like all of Matts designs. How much does it weight? Could be lighter than Paradox, I guess, due to the lack of ballast... Best regards

I like your build. Sometimes its best to deviate from original designs and it makes sense to change things according to your experiences. What kind of ply did you use? Marine ply is pretty expensive and alot of builders would be put off with that cost.

Another nice build. IMO Matt Leyden and Sven Yrvind set the standard for minimal sized seaworthy cruising boars. I'd be interested to see the rigging details when you go for a sail. How big is your sail roughly? Many thanks for the video.

The sail is around 90 sq ft if I remember correctly. Will get measurements next time i go out.

Great boat! About how many total hours did it take to build? How comfortable is it sitting on a piece of plywood on your butt and back all day though?

I like simplified way of running lines from mast to cabin and tiller set up. Also cabin has better lay out than Paradox in my opinion. Does Enigma style bottom provide any benefit over flat Paradox style?

I like the simplicity of your approach on this one! The entry hatch looks great with the rope and rails that it sits between. How long was the build? Hope to see it sailing in future videos. ZPLAA

It took about 3 months from start to finish. Will be uploading a pictorial of the build shortly. More videos coming soon.

Great build!! Any buoyancy foam or compartments? I'm building an 18' lilou2 open sailboat. It has a fwd airtight compartment and 2 aft . I plan on using sandbags also for ballast under the floor. She's designed to have water ballast, but I don't like water on the inside. Bad enough there's water on the outside, lol.......but ya gotta have that or it wouldn't be a boat!!!
@SmallWoodenBoats3 жыл бұрын
thank you, front and aft compartments have foam for buoyancy. Good luck on your build!

i feel like you shoud put a port in the back of the dog house, otherwise you would have a blind spot which other ships could sneak into and you could easily check your rudder in bad weather

Good job. I like the tiller idea. When docking and ready to jump out I'd like to have the positive control of a tiller. Do you have a rough idea of overall cost? And construction grade ply? Epoxy manufacturer?

I believe I have around $1500 in it. I get all my epoxy and supplies from US Composites out of Ft. Lauderdale. Best prices around!

I never had any plans. I found a few cad files on the microcruiser yahoo group and modified them to fit my needs. Dave Bolduc has the original plans for Paradox. Other than that I don't think there are any Enigma plans available.

Great job building it , but dunno why you did , um the pintles on your rudder look to weak for any real seas and most of the hardware , for coastal or lake cruising why not build something like an old Blue Moon or something if you want small an easy to build that is rock solid , sails itself in storms while you sit inside an read a book , two 200 pd men hanging on the sides can't tip it over , can run it into a dock with no damage , stove ,porta potti , cooler , lots of space for stuff , my wife an two kids used to sit in the cabin an play board games when it rained while i sat outside played sailer or went inside if it got really bad let it sail itself , that boat just seems sorta useless far as i can see

This is based on the Paradox. Very seaworthy beachable coastal cruisers. Lots of info available online.
