A very enjoyable video, I could almost taste the lobster! James is a lucky boy spending this wonderful time with Dad... plus learning along the way. When I was a kid, my cousin would come to my house and we would go looking for yabbies in the local creek. Only narrow in most places, the yabbies would be under the rock ledge along the waters edge, we had cubes of meat supplied by our Grandmother, tied to a long string, you just had to sit it out! Worked every time, my uncle would do the cooking but if we had a female with eggs, we had to take it back... Our uncles would go to local saltwater creek and always came home with crabs and sometimes huge lobsters, like yours but about twice the size, mostly bright blue. That was 60 years ago and it seems like yesterday! 🦘

So nice to see you spend time with James and teach him how to forage. The way the world is going he might need to know. I like to set my marshmallows on fire and quickly blow them out. Yum yum.

Love it and the bond you James have. It’s so funny how he will try something’s and then you said the wild garlic and he said I don’t like it and you told him he’s never had it. That’s just like my kid she isn’t very explorative when it comes to food. Lol thank you for sharing your explorations with your family.

I've been doing the same shoreline foraging as yourself for more than 50 years, and have been keeping native marines in my homes over that period as well, everything from Blennies to octopus, but my favourite is anemones. One of the best shorelines I have found in Scotland is at Dunure, near Ayr and I'm looking forward to April/May when the breeding season goes into full swing. You bring a smile to my face with your finds.

I’ve just had a quick look on google maps and that area of shore looks great. Clean sand onto reef. I bet it’s great for snorkelling in the summer.

Brings back memories from when I lived in Eastbourne and went foraging up Beachy Head. Live in Australia now and don't have that sort of coastline where I live unfortunately . Thanks for the memories.
