I am painting my sliders and rear bumper made by Brute Force Fabrication, and I called Rust-Oleum and they said they recommend using "self etching primer" first, then their professional paint series which I chose flat black. They said that combination is the most scratch resistant and rust resistant setup. Just wanted to share what Rust-Oleum told me. The 4runner looks great by the way! I wish I lived in Nevada. It's off-road heaven out there. I'm in Texas and we only have the hill country up past Austin. I use to mud my Tundra but I'm over the mud now. Now I just trail ride and rock crawl with it.

I really like the option of finishing mods yourself, a lot of us are DIYers but don't have all the tools to build what you want like my self or don't have the money to buy the finished product. Plus I get to spend some time with my daughter who loves making stuff herself. Thanks for sharing and pretty soon I'll be ordering my set. Thanks again.

Hey man just a suggestion but when you are using Flux core try using a flux core tip. The tip you were running is for mig. Didnt sound like you were running gas. You can get the flux tip in tighter spots. Nice sliders. Thanks for the video

Thanks for the video! Those sliders are very similar to 4xInnovations'. Paid $500 to have them welded on over two years ago. Took the pro welder over 8 hours to finish the job. I regret not applying Fluid Film underneath. Now dealing with a lot of surface rust. The hardest part is the body gap. Been doing that by hand with a file and sandpaper. Not Fun! Thinking of trying to lift the body to get more clearance.

I have been thinking about these. But I am looking at putting them In my 2018. And I would prefer to bolt them on. I have a lot of experience welding, and fabricating and I’m thinking I might make a plate to sandwich the frame, and bolt through existing holes with spacers. I also want to run a simple die plate in between the tubes......

Are they even worth it for all the work you have to do to assemble them? You can get kickout sliders for maybe $250 that just need the legs welded on. I'm a fan of doing as much as possible myself on my rig, but this seems like a lot of effort for the reward. I'm just curious haha

84shortyota it’s actually not as bad as you might think. Not to mention it is fun! And, I find satisfaction in doing it! I would encourage anyone to do it!

For $424 and everything comes in pieces I say WAY overpriced. Not to mentioned you have to fab to fit. That's a NO NO if you screw up. Why not just make your own? There's plenty of sliders in the market that just need the legs welded on for a cheaper price. Check out 4xinnovation sliders. Their supplier of material is made in the USA and not China metal.

@@genxiong2695 Agreed. I paid $475 for my sliders fully welded up (minus the legs) from Brute Force Fabrication for my 1st gen Tundra. My sliders are probably 18" longer too than his 4runner sliders here (more material).

Hey there, I saw your other two Coastal Offroad bumper installs, would you say these 3 kits are good for beginners with no welding experience at all? Costal Offroad says their kits are able to be put together with little welding experience, but wanted to ask someone who has installed them on their own as a DIY \

I’m super impressed with your skills and that looks really amazing. Plus you have the satisfaction of knowing you put it all together. Sweet. Can I ask a question about the welder and wire you used? I see Harbor Freight has a number of Titanium welders. Yours looked like the MIG140. What wire did you use with that ? And it was just flux core correct, not MIG. I don’t have a welder yet and thinking of getting one and don’t mind getting the more expensive one if it will do a better job on things for longer.
