Impressive work! Your channel is awesome and gives me confidence to tackle some of these jobs myself.

Thanks for the video. I'm getting their sliders and rear bumper kit (80 series Landcruiser) delivered tomorrow and I'm stoked to start burning some metal!

Definitely looking at these as an experienced welder, just have to get over the price first. It may be cheaper but it’s still a considerable chunk of change, though it’s something I’ve wanted for a really long time. I’m also looking at their sliders, I’d say they will be of high quality also.

I was in the same boat as you. I really wanted it for a long while but it was always wayy too pricey. The bumper is great so far, I’ll have to look into their sliders

Great work! I just priced out the aluminum version of dual swing and it’s 1.993$. Not terrible but not sure this project is for the common diy person. Glad yours worked out well.
@T4Rgarage Жыл бұрын
Aluminum is more expensive. And what currency is that for? Might be in CAD and not USD

That turned out great! I'm about to weld up the same kit for my 2014. I'm curious to know if you relocated your rear camera and if so, how?
@perrylamb6286 Жыл бұрын
That is WAY cool. Love the work you did and having the welds completed was a great idea. Do you need to light your license plate? Very impressed with your work. I've said it before and I'll say it again.
@T4Rgarage Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Yes, I have ordered a license plate light for $30 and a reverse camera relocate kit for $125. I’ll probably spend an afternoon wiring these up on my next days off, if they arrive on time. Cheers!

Thank you, great job! Where did you source the trim that covers the cut edge on your plastic bumper?

It’s the same stuff I used in my Viper cut video. Check out the description on that video for a link

Great video. Perfectly done and is what I'm suing as a supplement to the instructions. I plan on using raptor lining too. How much did you end up needing to complete the job? Just trying to decide how much to order. Like the idea of having someone look at the structural welds as I too am not a professional. Think I might try and take this approach as well. Cheers.

I am not very impressed with the Upol self etching primer. My suggestion would be to use a quality two part epoxy primer on the metal after preparing it properly. Wait for the primer to cure properly, scuff it then apply the raptor liner. I honestly should have used more Raptor liner and have noticed the coat is too thin in some spots. I got two coats with the last coat being a bit thin with the amount I had. Try to get 3 good coats with a 60 minute flash time in between coats. You might want double what I used in order to achieve this. You’re probably going to spend a bit of money to get this thing coated properly so it lasts.

Nice job! Does the spare tire shake while off roading as I find many of these dual swing-out tire carriers shake with a large spare tire?

I haven’t noticed it myself. I’ll have to ask someone tailing me next time I’m out to see what they say

How did you get your exhaust mount connected? I'm building the full height bumper and it doesn't look like it will fit.
@T4Rgarage11 ай бұрын
There is a square cutout for it on the coastal offroad bumper. I put the bumper on and then forced the rubber hanger through the cutout then used a large screwdriver (Phillips head) and put it through the hole in the rubber hanger and used the leverage to get the exhaust to line up with the rubber

Hey whats up man!... So, in reality, how achievable this is for someone that has no clue about welding or tools or welder machine, although I have followed ll your maintenance videos without issues and I love all DYI stuff, with 3 years of mechanical Engeinner?
@T4Rgarage5 ай бұрын
I would start with more basics projects and gain some experience first. It’s a lengthly process and one that requires some skill. The kit is fairly straightforward and has great instructions though

What welder did you use?
@T4Rgarage9 ай бұрын
I only had a MIG-Pak 140. It was maxed out the whole time. If I had a better welder I would have done the recovery points etc. myself

@T4Rgarage6 ай бұрын
It has an option for a hitch. I have it I just haven't welded it together yet. "Not rated for highway use" though. I've heard its pretty solid though
@Hateraz1016 ай бұрын
@@T4Rgarage probably just legality. I am in the middle of building my own rear bumper with tire carrier. I actually am reusing the stock hitch just cutting a hole for it on my steel bumper. I welded brackets to the rear crash bar to bolt on the rear bumper there. Was looking at this video for ideas. Thanks for posting.

Too bad they can’t make it from a single sheet of metal and bend it carefully into its final shape, like a Chinese food takeout box.

It would greatly increase the cost through labor and shipping.
