Logging With QRZ and Chasing an Award

I’m on a mission to get the QRZ Master of Europe Award while I’m working and operating in Poland. Here’s how I’m getting it done. #hamradio #amateurradio #QRZ

great you got your reward , i live in northern ireland it took me nearly 8years to get my usa states 50 award ,, and it was south dakota that took the longest to get ,i think alot of hams dont use qrz log so makes it realy hard to get your awards but thats all part of the fun , thanks for all the video,s walt

QRZ is perfect to upload logs to LOTW. It is a 1 button push and done.

Those qrz awards need to come with a health warning as I started with one then another and you can guess how the rest goes then before you know it you want them all. I wish every qso was confirmed because I'd have them all apart from oceania and Africa its hard as a lot of people never confirme but its fun trying tho congratulations walt well done and good luck with the next one

I primarily do DX to Europe from Rhode Island and the majority of contacts I make in Europe asked me to confirm on qrz

It should be a lot easier in Europe to increase the country count because there are a lot more different countries within a landmass two and a half times smaller than North America, 44 compared to 23, however, I think some of the smaller micronations like Andorra, Monaco, Montenegro, Vatican City, Malta, San Marino, Faroe Islands, Jersey, Guernsey, Luxembourg, Lichtenstein, Gibraltar, etc might prove more difficult.

Walt - Congratulations. Do you have separate logs for when you’re operating from home vs. when you’re operating as SP/…? I thought that you weren’t allowed to combine QSO’s completed from your QTH with those completed away from your QTH for contests? Thanks.

Hi Kevin, yes I have separate logs for my regular call and my SP/ log. As the QRZ badges are not a contest you can combine logs.

If I hear someone calling “CQ DX” on the East coast for a few minutes with no responses, I’ll make a call back from across the country to give a signal report and break the monotony. I never have been scolded for doing that.

I've tried to go into my call sign on edit, went onto my logging, press start, then says you need to pay a 1yr fee. Won't let me go any further till I pay £29 for 1yr

It's frustrating for me to hear someone calling dx. I'm operating qrp 99% of the time and working hard to just get contacts from Wisconsin. I have been lucky enough to get Europe and Russia qrp several times but when I hear a strong station calling dx running 1kw I feel like dropping my power to 10mw and calling anyway lol.
