F.L.Y is phenomenal. The boarding is amazing, the twisting (to get to and from flat) feel so natural. Flying through the hotel is also amazing while on the ride, and adds so much to the feel of the ride. Even when you are in the hotel, it is amazing to be walking around the hotel or in your room while the coaster is operating it really adds to the theming of the hotel too.
@Wilipeidia Жыл бұрын
F.L.Y really is just outstanding. The themeing of the land around it is brilliant even for its size, Fly literally is visible from every angle. The queue themeing is also great, especially the final stage where it turns into airport security - steampunk edition. Then the first time you see the train boarding facing you its a real surprise. The transition is incredibly smooth, my wife and I were both commenting afterwards how seemless it is. The comfort is definitely there as well, the restraints are brilliantly designed and comfortable throughout the ride. Truly a masterpeice of design, particularly given the challenges. Takes the top spot from Nemesis Alton Toweres for me.

After riding F.L.Y it really makes the earlier versions such as Air/Galactica a lot less enjoyable. Not just the way it feels, but the added theming present around the ride makes it one of the best coasters I've ridden. Granted, I still need to visit the states, so we'll see how long that lasts!

Stealth actually debuted when the park was still Paramount's Great America. That was the park I spent most of my childhood weekends in. I remember when Stealth opened, it was so hyped up... but then it was closed the majority of the time it was there. And if you were on the ride when it malfunctioned, you were almost guaranteed to be staring up at the sun until they got someone to get you.

I don't really understand why there has been no park announcing a new gen Vekoma flying coaster so far. Rookburgh's theming is great and really really helps the experience. But unlike other highly themed rollercoasters this is an absolutely amazing ride itself. I wonder how the reliability actually is since it seems like Fly is closed more often than other rollercoasters in the parks and/or operates with less trains.

Firehawk at Kings Island, was one of my favorite roller coasters. It was equal parts terrifying and fun! The flip at the top was very scary. The ride up the lift hill on your back, was very interesting. One time I got stuck on the lift and that wasn't fun. It took over 2 hours to get us all down the hill.

Fun fact only a coaster enthusiast would care about: at 3:58 when you mentioned Invertigo, that footage is actually from the Kings Island Invertigo, and with that color scheme means that that footage is only a few years old. I also just want to point out that I loved Firehawk, and keep hoping Kings Island will get the B&M flyer at some point.

Just arrived back from Europe and now having ridden FLY i can honestly say its an interesting ride, its not as fast as i expected and the secondary launch is there to give the train a little boost to complete the track and not as noticeable as other launch coasters. i found the seat rotation a novel experience and riding the first part of the lift sideways was fun and the ride itself was enjoyable with the near miss elements and passing over the heads of other guests in the area surrounding the ride. The one thing that lets this ride down is the restraints, this always seems to be an issue with Vekoma, I found them to be not as comfortable as the B&M ones and the angle that you are held at means that you have to really hold your head up throughout the ride to see where you are going which i found made my neck ache. overall i would give FLY a 5 out of 10, the lines were only about 20 minutes on the days we were there so rode it a few times but would rather ride a B&M flying coaster any time.

I feel like Zamperla's design is underrated. It might be a more "off-the-shelf"-type model, but it's not as rough as people make it out to be. Tomb Raider (now Time Warp) at Canada's Wonderland still provides a fun ride. And as long as people don't dawdle when in line, out can run through a lot of riders.

Slight correction, the arms on B&M flying coasters are not pushed down with hydraulic pistons, but work off a cam system, driven by an electric motor, as clearly seen above the track.

Galacticair, while far from the best coaster I've ever ridden, will always be my favourite. Its like a work of art, not striving for thrill or airtime like most coasters I've experienced, but more. I'm SO glad you brought that up! X2 is one of my all time favs, out of the 600+ coasters I've ridden. I just wish it could be smoother and more accommodating. @@batshtcrazy5293 Smoother is definitely possible for a 4D coaster - Eejanaika at Fuji-Q Highland in Japan is extremely comfortable while being utterly insane. The duel station on Batwing and X flight were useless since the parks didn't have the budget for the extra staff it would have taken to run both sides. Vekoma originally planned to install the two rides at kings dominion (batwing) and kings island (X flight) as they had an exclusivity deal since paramount parks helped vekoma to develop the ride. @denniscielaszyk5118 Жыл бұрын
@iceblade019 I'm not talking about the free spins. I'm referring X2, Dinoconda, and Eejanaika. I mean, I know how they work - there is an additional tube that runs along the track that differs slightly in height. On the trains, there's an additional wheel that, based on the height of the extra tube, rotates the seat. This has to be done everywhere on track. The calculations to this must have been super complex, and I feel like it's much more complex than just having a coaster train tilt 90° and lock into position. I might be wrong, tho, it's only my opinion, I haven't researched whether this is actually more complex

I've been on Galactica, Tatsu, Two Superman clones and most recently the flying dutchman model Nighthawk (or as you say used to be called Stealth) at Carowinds which I rode April 2023. I loved the latter's double looping fly to lie, but the rest was rough, especially the corkscrew. (I guess I should have ridden in car four instead of car six; so that's my bad.) then The Superman clones come next; boring if it wasn't for the Pretzel loop. Tatsu is the best B&M flying coaster I've ridden. I'm still pretty sure it's not as good as Flying Dinosaur in Japan or the best for all: F.L.I. at Phantasialand, neither of which I've ridden yet. (BTW Invertigo; the inverted Boomerang I rode at Kings Island in June was good, better than the regular boomerang I rode in 2021 at Canada Wonderland which is so much worse it doesn't deserve to be compared to it.) In conclusion: Flying coaters that I've ridden so far aren't my favourite coasters but F.L.I. looks like it could be one of my favourite coasters in the world. On another note: I wonder of Ostriches dream about Flying coasters. It must be worse for birds who can't fly than it is for humans. More complex than 4D coasters like X2? Or how about a Mack Spinner like Ride to Happiness? Those both seem quite complex to me.

I think the most complicated roller coasters out there are the hydraulic launch coasters tbh
@tomw485 Жыл бұрын
@@triple7marc They very well could be. I don’t know enough about the launch mechanism to comment. I know they’re finicky and high maintenance which is why every new coaster with a launch seems to use LSM’s these days. It’s a shame because the hydraulic launch accelerates significantly harder than LSM’s do.

Jinma Rides is joining the flying coaster industry with one being built right now in China. And others copy the Zamperla Volares. So I'm actually fine with not mentioning them at all. 😂

@First-Drop-Studios Жыл бұрын
@@flyin_with_ryan the family launch coaster, which is new for them. Although it’s not innovative due to manufacturers doing it for 10+ years now. Along with the surf coaster which is literally a stand up with a launch and a more unconventional layout.

10:12 bro, why you gotta say *THICK* like that 😂😂😂 I also find it hard to believe that these have more complexity than a ride who's seats have controlled rotations over the entire track (talking about the Arrow 4D, ofc :p tho admittedly those didn't really take off [no pun intended ;p] like these did)
