So I was just in a discussion on a Facebook coaster forum in which someone was wondering how much could be crammed into the tiny area of the Mattel park in Arizona, and it got me researching how small a significant park could get. The stats for Gröna Lund absolutely stunned me. People were talking about my home park, Canobie Lake Park, as an archetypical small park, but I realized that all of Gröna Lund can nearly fit into the angle of the L formed by Canobie's Yankee Cannonball at the north end of its parking lot.

More than anything, in this case, poor inspection. If someone qualified would've been able to tell that the parts they had just installed a month or two ago (at most) were faulty from the very start. It is sad to see such an old coaster go, especially since it was the one that first made me really enjoy rollercoasters-- but yeah, it's for the best. Lustiga Huset (The Funhouse) and Blå Tåget (The Ghost Train) are ancient. I am 48 and I went on those rides as a kid (late 70s). I remember that flying carpet ending to be one of the highlights every time I visited and I remember having my eyes closed most of the time while riding on the ghost train with my dad. The only rollercoaster left from that time is Nyckelpigan (the kid's coaster on the opposite section of the park from the one you showed). There was another traditional rollercoaster back then that was located where Jetline is today. By the way, Kvasten means 'the broom(stick)' so it has that witch theme going.

Im from Sweden and live fairly close to Stockholm. I grew up with at least one trip to Gröna Lund every summer as a kid. And as a teenager I was crazy for the thrill rides! Jetline was my absolute favorite growing up, I remember that I couldn't ride it for years because of the height requirement. So I am gutted that it's been decided that the ride will be disassembled...but I also completely understand. As a lonely adult, I haven't been to the park in forever. I do hope they introduce another rollercoaster, as they are my favorite rides. And sometime in the future I can experience it.

This park looks very interesting. The way everything is so compact, with coasters weaving around all over the place and using buildings with their supports, etc.makes the park seem like it's something from a sci-fi movie (Blade Runner or A.I. for examples). As I've mentioned before, I love B&M inverts (some of my favorite roller coaster models) -- so, I would love to ride Monster. It does look like a great coaster. I'm not a fan of wild mouse coasters, but the one at this park actually looks like it would be a fun ride because of its unconventional wild mouse layout, with those curvy/winding dips and turns and some punchy-looking drops. I appreciated your commentary on Jetline that was done with a lot of respect towards the victims of the accident while also addressing issues with the ride and others that have been involved in similar type accidents. I've noticed that there is a population of coaster enthusiasts who tend to overlook or downplay -- and even sometimes make light of coaster accidents that could have been avoided if better care was taken by the manufacturers or the parks -- whomever is ultimately responsible for the accidents caused by mechanical issues. Ride accidents of such magnitude are a very serious matter, not something that people should just shrug their shoulders about and sweep under the carpet. So, good for you for sharing such an honest and respectful commentary in regards to this.

16:02 "For some reason this park has three very different drop towers." I worked at Gröna Lund in 2001 when Katapulten (the Space Shot) was new, and the park already had Fritt Fall from 1998. The reason the owners of Gröna Lund liked adding another drop tower attraction at that point was that it was easy to fit on a small space compared to a roller coaster. That said they've managed to fit *so* many new coasters into the park since 2001! I don't think I've been to Gröna Lund to go on rides since ~2012, so I've not been on half of those coasters. I say "to go on rides" as I've been to a couple of concerts there since, and most notably I got to see Weird Al Yankovic there in 2015.

"I can not get used to this ride, it's ridiculous." - 22:25 Well, I once spent a day primarily doing this one ride over and over and over again. Did it at least 80 times in a row, starting early in the morning and few visitors that day, so didn't even have to queue most of the time. And nope, it were still fairly unpredictable even by the end. Unlike other ride that has the same patterns, Insane is just a bit inherently random, and that makes it interesting. Some rides on it are good, some are bad. But the least fun aspect of it is being in the queue bellow the last drop. More than once have I listened to the sound of a rider's phone flying out their pocket and crashing into the water, or against the floor in the pit right before the station. Though, sometimes the dropped phone manages to crash down through the tight nit net above the queue, seen it myself more than once. But yes, Gröna Lund is a very compact amusement park and more than once have they discussed expanding out. They have their eyes set on their parking lot outside, it ain't much. But they can like fit 3-4 coasters and a bunch of smaller rides in that 8000 m² area, adding about 50%. Since yes, Gröna Lund does use a lot of vertical space and has no qualms about having coasters going through each other as clearly showcased in this video, now there is also plenty of other attractions besides the coasters as well. I guess you will have to return in the future to try Twister, it is a good ride. Especially if seated at the very back, where it almost whips one over each drop. Unlike at the front where one slowly creeps over each drop and only really gain speed when one is already a decent bit down the slope. (though, this is partly true for all coasters) Though, it is a bit sad to see Jetline go, it has a lot of charm, but hopefully they will replace it with something new. All the newer coasters are much shorter in comparison, so hopefully whatever replaces it has a similar ride time.

In 4 hours I got on as many rides, 1 every hour. The rides are great, but it just didn't feel like it was worth the money. You may be used to it in the US, but here (imo) any more time spent in queue than 20-30 minutes is terrible. Glad to see you enjoyed it though!

That’s totally awesome! I hope to see more of that in the future, but if not, it makes Monster all the more unique!

was it not in Gröna Lund where a accident happen and someone died like last summer?
@zXSleeZy4 ай бұрын
Yes and if you watched the video you'd known that... It was some spare part that failed which was not easily observed, altho with qc they should've seen something was amiss. If i remember correctly the spare part was only like 3 weeks old when replaced and failed.

In 2025 we will have a new ride in Sweden if you want to try it out

Insane came first, opened in 2009 and green lantern opened in 2011. So it’s not that weird insane is that much better, green lantern is a bad knock off. 😅

This year, only a couple of weeks ago, Gröna Lund decided to close Jetline for good. A sad thing but maybe for the best. RIP Jetline.

I’m upset I never got to ride it, but I don’t deny that the decision was a tough one for the park to make 🥲

I went to Grönalund when I was young and my dad and I kept riding the same ride over and over(don’t remember the name). After the tenth time, we didn’t even need to show our wristbands😂
