I rode on SEPTA/DART commuter trains between Philadelphia & Wilmington, DE when the old Penn Central railroad provided the equipment for SEPTA. The line from Philadelphia to the PA-DE border is SEPTA, from the PA-DE border to Newark, DE it is DART(Delaware Authority for Rapid Transit) which provided the city transit bus service, commuter rail service in Northern New Castle County and provides the instate intercity bus service between Wilmington, Newark & downstate Delaware cities & towns & Wilmington, New Castle & downstate Delaware cities & towns & the Delaware beach resort towns.

I was surprised and delighted to see how clean these trains are even the roofs from your overhead shots. Don't you suffer from the graffiti problem and dirty trains which we have in the UK? Do any of the commuter trains in the USA have first and second class carriages or are they all single class? Enjoyed the video, thanks.
@BlueLightning2779 жыл бұрын
+newspaniard To paraphrase: Commuter rail and anything long distance is separately owned. Commuter rail is privatized and is carried out by these trains you see here. Most if not all of these are single class "pay to get on and off" style point to point transportation. Get on, and pick a seat anywhere on the train. The only real separation of people is the quiet car on some lines, which mandates that people (politely) keep their trap shut. Also, the reason the cars tend to be so clean is because commuter rail agencies have train washes (think giant car wash) and large fenced in secure storage facilities. Plus you can be fined for soiling the cars in any way, at least where I'm from. Finally, long distance routes are taken care of by Amtrak, which is partially government owned. This does have classes, two of them, being coach and sleeping cabin. Hope this helps.
