Union Pacific SD70M Locomotives

The Union Pacific SD70M’s are all pretty cool looking, I did know one of them was involved in the 2005 Glendale Train Crash, which was Union Pacific 4323. It was the only locomotive that got touched in the wreck, but was at least repaired and put back to service not long after. And still in revenue service today for Union Pacific now.

1:25 & 13:19 are classic mid 2010's consists. I would like to see UP refurbish their SD70M fleet even if that means upgrading them to AC traction and giving them new cabs similar to the AC44C6M rebuilds.

Finally the moment I’ve been waiting for! I’m surprised that the SD70Ms are still being used for Union Pacific! I’ve also seen UP 2002 the Salt Lake Olympics unit back in Mineola in 2022. And now there is also 1979 the We Are One unit as well! Also speaking of 2002 on 15:32, that’s the one that was behind a C45 GEVO pulling an almost short Intermodal!

It sucks that UP has thrown a lot of these locomotives in storage lately. I know quite a few UP SD70M's we're shipped out with K5LAR24's instead of the K3HA's. I'm pretty sure this was because CSX had also ordered SD70's at the same time and that's what caused it. There's still quite a few SD70M's with K5LA's too.

I don’t quite like the look of the wide body cab on the SD70m’s. But on the inside, those cabs are pretty spacious. And these locomotives make me feel nostalgic. I personally always liked the Illinois Central SD70s with the standard cab
