It's awesome to hear a SLC is smooth. Alot of enthusiasts have said for years they look awesome and if they were smooth they would be fun and intense rides. It's nice to see at least one is finally a decent ride.

Yeah I mean it's still not a B&M but at least this one is enjoyable like you said.

Almost little to no headbanging :O With this type of Vekoma track? I'm not hating on Vekoma now, but I am impressed how they welded their old track design to make it almost glossy smooth

This looks fun! Did you hear about the roller coaster in Daytona? The front car came off the track and was dangling there, two people fell out at around 35 feet and the rest had to be taken down by fire truck ladder. I don't think anyone died but I don't know all the details.

Nice work Patrick . . . and yeah, this is the ONE SLC people actually like (I know ME at SFNE got new trains a couple years ago). Morey's Piers has a good 1-2 punch with this and Great White. Plus Sea Serpent (the first Boomerang in the US)
@CoasterFanatics6 жыл бұрын
Jason Maier Yeah they have a solid collection. Still I'd love to see another wood coaster at this park.
@mhtube016 жыл бұрын
The last time I rode this coaster, it was in it's original form. The track was originally red and it had it's original trains. All is can say is....ouch. I was young then too so it made quite the impression on me. I'll have to give it a try this year though since I'll be in Cape May next month and wanted to go and spend an evening at the Wildwood boardwalk. My favorite coaster there is the Great White, I just think it's the best out of all of them. I'm not a huge Vekoma fan like a lot of people but I love a good wooden coaster.
@CoasterFanatics6 жыл бұрын
I agree. I love Great white as well. Such an awesome looking wood beach coaster.
@prushimush5 жыл бұрын
Morey's Piers seems to take care of their Vekoma coasters. This SLC is 24 years old and their Boomerang is 35 years old, both ride nice. The new track on the Great Nor'Easter SLC is actually smoother than the Sea Serpent Boomerang right next door. I wonder if (sorta nearby) SFA or SFNE will ever retrack their SLCs?
@CoasterFanatics5 жыл бұрын
True that, these are some of the better vekomas I've been on. I highly doubt Six Flags will do anything with their SLC's.
@NicholasJohnson-nb8vc6 жыл бұрын
A Vekoma SLC near a beach. I Definetley want to see more of these like at The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, and Belmont Park.
@kw6stheater5396 жыл бұрын
Nah I think those parks are more likely to get vertical coasters, for example Skyrocket IIs (Superman: Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom), Gale Force clones, or Maurer Skyloops (X Coaster at Magic Springs)
@CoasterFanatics6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree. An SLC does look nice on the beach but it does take up a lot of space. I agree that the vertical coasters fit better at these piers/boardwalks.
@katarinachiogna-solovey35605 жыл бұрын
It's fun to look at the beach as you're ascending and for some of the descent. It's better at night though.

I just got to ride this coaster again today, wow lol. I went in expecting it to be a lot better but it honestly let me down. I rode in the second row and found the inversions to really throw my head around and make my neck really stiff. I got off feeling like I had some whiplash and definitely wasn't getting back in on. I felt some rough spots too which was surprising for a coaster that just got retracked a few years ago. For me, Sea Serpent is a much more enjoyable ride out of their two Vekomas. I rode that coaster both front and back and actually had fun! Sure there's some roughness as expected but it's not bad compared to some of the other boomerangs I've ridden.
@CoasterFanatics5 жыл бұрын
Yeah even upgraded SLC's just aren't the greatest rides. I also agree that Sea Serpent is one of the better boomerangs for sure.

@professormedia68516 жыл бұрын
I have never been on an SLC, but when the time comes I am certainly willing to give them a chance. (After all, they're still coasters). I find it interesting that this is the only custom SLC in the country and they wanted to have the same layout as the common SLCs at many parks in the country.
@CoasterFanatics6 жыл бұрын
True that. It's basically got the same layout besides the station and brake run. I hope you get to ride one soon.
@jonny-b49543 жыл бұрын
So did Vekoma actually reprofile any of it ever so slightly? Or is it just better made to the same exact design and newer and thus smoother? Plus the trains and vest restraints? Always wondered how that works with new track pieces. Especially if doing 90%, everything but the lift hill, brake and station basically.
@CoasterFanatics3 жыл бұрын
so yes, they replaced a lot of it with new pieces. with todays technology they can make much smoother track than when originally built. I would imagine that some of the track is still original like the lift hill and the loading station. I'm sure all the high stress areas like the inversions are new. As far as the trains go. I don't think they are all that different to be honest. the fact that there is no restraint to hit your head on is the biggest upgrade to these Vekomas in my eyes. I'm a big fan of vest restraints on rides like this.

CoasterFanatics actually I’m recommending you to start with the uk because they kinda feeling like the American one’s You have the big theme parks like Alton towers or Thorpe Park which Thorpe park feels to me like a six flags. And even the smaller ones outside England like oak wood theme park and inside England like Drayton manor This will help you for the first time if you don’t now how European theme parks looks like

I’ve ridden it about 50 times, the best is at night in the fall time actually.

Lol too funny. I rode this ride when it was all original and still painted red and man did it bang your head around. I finally rode it again last year and the double inline twist really hurt my neck with how abrupt the first twist that goes over the one water slide is. I still don’t know if it’s worth riding. I’ll try it again in a different seat but IMO, Great White is by far the best coaster at Wildwood and he most reridable .

I hate all SLC stolen technology from Arrow
@CoasterFanatics6 жыл бұрын
Yeah pretty much, lol.
@MondoCoasters6 жыл бұрын
That's not exactly accurate. Arrow let Vekoma use their tracks for their own designs and layouts on the condition that they'd use Arrow's rolling stock. This is why many of Vekoma's older coasters use Arrow trains, including Boomerangs. Arrow then apparently absolved them from this deal around the early 90's which is around the same time when Vekoma made their first SLC's. So it's not fair to label Vekoma as thieves as much as people still do.
