That's art my guy!! I've tried workinf on a corner bead for the past 2 days, and you did it in 2 minutes

You've been working on one corner bead for two days? If that's true, you might want to hire someone else to do the job. Mudding corner bead is not difficult at all. Hell, installing corner bead isn't difficult either. I've only done it a handful of times, but it's come out great every time and I never thought it was something difficult.

Thank you for your videos Mitch. With your instruction, I have hung, taped and coated an entire room. I'm on to one more coat of topping to fill a few cracks, then texturing and painting. Thanks again sir. I really appreciate the time you put into this.

Good videos, it's too bad that they're geared towards spackled / textured drywall though. Personally, I think there ought to be mandatory life imprisonment for spackling of drywall, as it's an assault against the senses. But I'm mainly wondering if this instruction differs much different from that of smooth drywall finish, or if all the same techniques apply.

Okay I have a question in regards to the edge you didn't completely it wasn't completely done yet so there's not many videos on this but a couple I had seen talks about not completely having the edge covered and it looks like they don't completely cover it because of the paint covers over it so does the edge completely need to be covered before it's painted will it not show through?
@drywallinstruction17663 жыл бұрын
The metal corner will not show through when the mud is sanded off.
@mothersson20023 жыл бұрын
@@drywallinstruction1766 so the paint covers it up in of itself? It won't bleed through ?
@Tonyhouse11682 жыл бұрын
@@mothersson2002 if you’re seeing a difference between the mud and the corner, spray the corner with Kilz primer, then paint. Primer will cover up the discrepancy

Do you use a specific brand and type of mud? I heard you say "Topping", but I'm relatively and amateur when it comes to drywall. Also, can corner bead be mudded horizontally? Like the other side of your bead to the right? Would you use a 4" knife in that instance?
@drywallinstruction17664 жыл бұрын
Check out my "muds" video. I'd use a 6" knife, rarely use smaller knives unless there's not enough room.

No paper needed for metal bead?

Nail on cornerbead does not require tape, IMO.

Mitch, when installing a metal corner bead, is there a different procedure for metal studs instead of wood studs?
@drywallinstruction17663 жыл бұрын
Use tape on cornerbead.

Hey Mr. Mitch, i cant find compound that has a "topping" label, the home depot near me sells a USG PLUS 3, and a USG Ultra Lightweight. Which one would be a better for topping?
@drywallinstruction17667 жыл бұрын
In the past I used Plus 3 which is just like topping or a form of topping but described as All-Purpose. Good luck to you and check out Drywallinstruction.com!

Thank you for these videos! Is the actual metal corner then always exposed somewhat? To be covered by paint?
@drywallinstruction17667 жыл бұрын
You're welcome and that's exactly right, just the very corner.
@mothersson20023 жыл бұрын
@@drywallinstruction1766 okay so the actual edge is not covered so if it's covered that gets sanded and then it doesn't show up when it's painted?
@johnh95077 жыл бұрын
can you put the metal corner bead over the taper if running the board vertical or should the taper be cut off
@drywallinstruction17667 жыл бұрын
You can but you'll need to pull the cornerbead out a little bit to provide a void big enough to compensate for the factory edge. Otherwise you won't end up with a flat surface, it will round off to the edge of the cornerbead. Good luck to you!
@robertmdrew6 жыл бұрын
So you don't use setting mud for your first coat over corner bead?
@drywallinstruction17666 жыл бұрын
I only use setting mud when needing to finish in one trip.

I like your videos very good , everyone has there own method but i can't believe nobody puts tape on bead !!!
@drywallinstruction17663 жыл бұрын
Cornerbead actually very rarely cracks. Taping all cornerbead in my opinion is overkill. The cracks that do happen probably would not be prevented with tape in my opinion.

I don't want to sound like a heckler, (cause I've commented on some of your other videos) but do you only own a 6" and 12" knife? one coat with a 12" knife won't prep the sheetrock for texture! you are not giving the viewer proper instructions .
@drywallinstruction17667 жыл бұрын
Yes I do own several knives in different sizes but I admit to using primarily a 6" knife and 12" inch trowel actually. I demonstrate both in case people prefer one to another. I'll bet with a little bit of practice you can achieve the same success and won't need to do multiple coats with knives of various sizes. The beauty of videos is that people can actually watch each step and determine if it's real or not. Have you watched the "Sanding after first coat" video? Good luck Keith
