That whole dog incident is borderline psychotic. I hope the police take it seriously - someone who thinks of doing something like that is probably dangerous to have around.

Hi - I'll add this- There's no proof as yet but the suspect guy everyone is scared of spent 20 years in jail for manslaughter I am told and apparently hates people! Whether there's a result remains to be seen.

Sorry for the rant. Getting back to your video great additional lighting. As we get older there doesn’t seem to be enough light. This would do the trick. Good job.

G'day Kevin here from Australia I always love the look of your shop. Would you be able to pan out with the camera to get a better look of your shop and maybe a tour
@ChrisB2576 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, I did do some tours of my chaos shop long ago actually - it's always a mess. Can't find a video right now but I think somewhere among my early videos was something on that - might be on this page where I was starting to get into some shop time - www.oldmansshop.com/vid-pages/shop-videos-index-01.php Very basic early days!

That was a good mod to the lights to make them more useful - mag bases are so handy for a number of things (most often my cameras are on mag bases!). And yes, that is very disturbing what happened to the dog. Definitely needing the authorities involved, as trying to solve something like that citizen-to-citizen can often turn south.
@ChrisB2576 жыл бұрын
Hi Everett - was glad to get lights usable - still need to experiment with positioning. The dog thing is yet to be resolved - if it ever does.

Hi Chris, I see you and your's are doing OK. I was wondering about you and the severe weather coming your way. You know me, I can waffle with the best of them, LOL. Hi Jim - yes, not too bad apart from this age thing!! We have had some awful weather and some flooding but nothing like the poor folks down south - have to be grateful for that. Hoping for some better temps to get a bit more shop time. ATB.

What would the diffuser do? Change the color?
@ChrisB2576 жыл бұрын
Not so much color as just soften the light a little. it's a bit intense currently. Trying to find something like a jug of water which is fairly thin plastic and not bad for translucency.
@brandontscheschlog6 жыл бұрын
ChrisB257 gotcha. I don’t think I’ve ever had a light that was too bright nor have I had one that could focus on my working area and not have shadows or dark spots. Lucky you !

Someone that needs to kill an animal uselessly is in my books a little on the sick side... Like you mentionned, a proper diffuser will greatly improve the diffusion and avoid intense glares, it will provide a much softer lighting and very clear immage. As you maybe have on your camera, if you want to avoid wandering focus, use the manual focus feature for when you do turning, in order to have focus switch between the part and the chip pan, same on the milling machine, this is what I do and it solves my problems. Lately it's been quite warmer and for much longer period of time than what we're use to have, with lots of humidity... Hot, but way better than freezing, not looking for Winter again...!!!
@ChrisB2576 жыл бұрын
Hi Pierre - we suspect the culprit is indeed sick - he's apparently spent 20 years in jail for manslaughter and everyone is scared of him - nut job it seems. Yet to have any result from the cops. I hope to find something suitable as a diffuser - possibly some thin poly like from a water jug. I did for some while use manual focus but did find at times I still didn't set it quite right because hard to see for sure in the display screen all the time - might have to go back to that - laziness probably! I've noticed on radar that you could well have had the heat and humidity - it has gotten very old. I sure don't relish freezing but maybe for a few weeks of fall it'll get more comfortable.
@pierresgarage26876 жыл бұрын
I got a Canon camera, manual focus is quite effective, just not to forget to set back to automatic or re-do focus when changing scene...

Chris, my condolences to your step-son and his family on the loss of their pet. Three weeks ago we lost our Lab, Shadow, to Canine Lymphoma so I know how he must feel. Hopefully, there is a special kind of hell waiting for that heartless individual that shot his pet. Also, I know what you mean about not being able to work in the shop. I manage to get in 10 or 15 minutes and then the heat and humidity drive me out. Don't overdo.
@ChrisB2576 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, Thus far the cops don't have a result but the suspect is relatively obvious. Local nut job who spent 20 years in jail for manslaughter it seems - folks are afraid of him!. Looking fwd to a couple of fresher days but yes, the heat and humidity sure do limit shop time. One extreme or the other! ATB.

That is a really disturbing incident about the dog, I hope they find out who did it, proving it could be a difficult task . The LED light is really good, no more quivering filaments in a light bulb, and as you observe, no heat, I often get a nasty burn when consentrating on the job I am doing, it can really make you jump.

G'day Chris I've been watching your weather on Sky and you have really copped it, I can't work in my shed when it's too hot you lose concentration and, well I make mistakes. It doesn't matter when you produce a video well at least not to me you own health is the important issue. The story you were telling us about your Sons dog there are no words to describe how somebody could do do that, your right when you called them a low life "baste rd" I hope that the Police can pin this bloke down, he's dangerous! It's good to see you again and I get the feeling this would have been a difficult video to do, anyway mate the lightening I might give it a try all the best your friend from Tassie. John.

Hello John, Good to see you too. Yes, we certainly have seen many extremes of weather this year - I am just lucky we didn't get the worst of the hits here, so far. The dog thing is as yet unresolved but sure hope someone gets held responsible - whoever it was is a low life.

Hi Robi - old age sucks! Frustrating how things go wrong one by one! Well, yes thread is in theory a 5/8 but initially when I assessed it is seemed below that - no big deal anyways. Dead stink - true, it'll never be removable completely.

@brandontscheschlog6 жыл бұрын
My prayers go out to your family. This is a sick man and karma eventually catches up to you. If it doesn’t there’s always options. I had a very similar issue where my neighbor almost shot my dog because she would wander onto his property to see his dogs barking 24/7 that are caged outside with no shelter throughout the year in Pennsylvania hottest months and coldest months. Thankfully it didn’t get to this but our dog occasionally gets loose and I have to worry about this everytime it happens. When I was a kid, 25 years ago, The entire neighborhoods dogs would randomly show up at your house and it wasn’t a big deal. Nobody was ever harmed and no dogs were ever threatened or harmed. It’s the little things anymore that turn out to be a huge ordeal anymore
@ChrisB2576 жыл бұрын
Hi Brandon, We are still pretty sure this guy is the culprit or someone in his family... he is almost feared by locals! As yet no result from the cops so whether there will be still remains to be seen. The big thing was - not only was the dog killed but - the corpse was 'delivered' to be put inside a car Cody was working on - then of course not being discovered until about 3 very hot days had gone by. There are some very nasty people in society unfortunately - although glad to say good folks still exist :)
