note: big apologies guys. i'm not sure why there's a skip at the cobalt turquoise part, maybe rendering issues. i'm not sure. but don't worry, i didn't say much during that swatch.

I *did* notice your clips were color coded! Nice discussion of this pigment. I have the DaVinci Cobalt Turquoise (Teal) and Cobalt Turquoise Deep, and they both run very blue. I hadn't bought the cerulean from them yet since I have so many Ceruleans already! I think they must like going to the blue side on these shades. The "Teal" one is actually made from PB 28.

you're one of the few that notices the small things Jenn ;D ahh yeahh, i find that the PB28 teal-y colours tend to be more blue than PG50. i think DS is the greenest of them all and i actually like it but DS is the only brand that makes it that green.

Thank you for swathing Mijello cobalt green deep! Somehow in promos it looked much deeper in green. I thought - what a unique shade of PB36! It looked as thick granulating perylene green 🤔 But I see now that it is really more of a thick and creamy granulating muted turquoise. It’s beautiful but I now see this hue of PB36 can be found elsewhere (in Russia - in Pinax, Extra, for instance). I’m not sure if I need this very colour yet. It does look like sea green. I must mull this over =) But you saved me from the craving the Mijello one!
@PaintinHiding
@PaintinHiding 2 жыл бұрын
yeaaahhh i completely understand. when i bought the mijello one i thought it would be like a cobalt green dark PG26 like the one i swatched on the bottom in this vid. aahh yes, muted turrquoise is very appropriate to describe the mijello one. 👍haha, i'm glad i saved you from craving the mijello one! i get that, sometimes i watch vids and crave for specific colours only to find out it's exactly the same as something else and i'm like... "ugh! i dont need that!" haha ;P have a great weekend Aly!

Hmmm...ok. Hey, Vee)) Since your last video on Cerulean`s, you made me realize that the one I use the most is PB36, Schmincke`s Cobalt cerulean. White Nights Cobalt Chrome turq. is too green, and W.N. Cerulean blue (which I love the hue of) is too low tinting, but then (now!) I remembered that I also have their Cobalt Azure)) so I had to reswatch them all. To me, the WN cerulean (or Ceruleum) is a tad warmer than their Cob.Azure, so Schmincke`s one would be right in-between the two I think, only much more pigmented than both. I haven`t tried any of the DS, or that Rembrandt PB35 (which I like, but not as much as Holbein`s, from your last video), as well as Schmincke`s Cobalt Azure, which I imagine to be even warmer, lower tinting but more granulating. Ohhh so many bluesss.. That`s why I love watching paint swatching)) But, besides what I see or imagine, the urge to buy is too strong .. an obsession rather than need! We better take care of our shoes so they last longer XD

ohh schmincke cobalt azure is gorgeous 😍 i’ve done a comparison on PB29 before but not cobalt blues. i’ll need to check if i have enough cobalt blues to swatch for a vid because i dont use cobalt blue a lot so i dont have that many. i’ll put it on my list though 👍🏻🥰

I have cobalt turquoise from Daniel Smith and I prefer cerulean blue. I get a hue version from a Holbein 24 set, but I’m not a fan of white paint as part of a hue. I’ve been using Windsor and Newton’s cerulean blue because it’s easy to get where I live. Thank you for sharing
@PaintinHiding
@PaintinHiding Жыл бұрын
oh yeah i get you. i'm not a big fan of white in hues either. though do be aware, some brands make hues of various colours where they don't put a pigment white into the mix but instead, they use opaque fillers that act very similarly to a pigment white in that it tints the colour.

I have Rembrandt’s equivalent to the White Nights’ PB36 Cobalt Chrome Turquoise which is Cerulean Blue Deep, that’s how Royal Talens call the colour. It’s quite close to the White Nights’ swatch in hue. It’s a lovely colour. At the moment I don’t use it all too often but maybe one day I’ll use it again.
@PaintinHiding
@PaintinHiding 2 жыл бұрын
yep, i have that one too. not many people use it but i think it's because people aren't very aware of the colour. hmm, you've given me an idea. maybe i need to do a swatch comparison between the white nights and rembrandt ;P

The W&N Cobalt Green (PG50) is a good substitute for viridian! ☺️ Their hue is very similar and they both granulate, though the W&N Cobalt Green granulates like a cobalt does. Kimberly Crick shows it in her video about Winsor & Newton.
