Got to admit I run hot & cold with the Cobb (no pun intended). The Cobb stones seem to be lower quality these days, and definitely require a fire lighter. I love that with the lid on food stays moist, but have experienced variable heat performance in any kind of wind. Just purchased a 3rd party heat shield, so will keep using it for occasional camping trips.

yes it is interesting how each bbq is affected by the quality of the charcoal burn. As I said in an earlier response to one of the other Cobb videos: 'As to the lump wood I have been thinking I will go back to making my own charcoal (I use an old steel drum - same size as an oil drum but was used for orange juice concentrate of all things) as I am finding that the bought charcoal products are so often inconsistent in quality and burn. If, as and when I do I will of course upload a video of the charcoal making....''

Thanks, I bought the kit before watching your video but im pleased I can bull shit the wife as to why I have bought it whilst not telling her I've spent nearly £300 on a piece of kit I've not used in two years but I am going to use more, the £300 is not only on this I got carried away after a few rums on all the gear you can buy on this fantastic bit of kit

Thanks for the videos. All very interesting as I'm trying to decide between the Cobb premier air combo, and the lotus grill. Have you had any experience with the Lotus?

No experience with the lotus unfortunately and as you can tell these videos are about me learning to use the Cobb, so I do not pretend to be an expert on barbecues in any way and probably not the best source of advice... Glad you liked the videos. Thanks for the feedback. Cheers, john

I got the bbq kit from cobb-bbq.co.uk. It seems that Cobb accessories are in demand and not everyone has everything in stock at any one time as I had to shop around for a frying dish which cobb-bbq did not have at the time and eventually found one at Blacks.

Thanks for the video but I have all these pieces and find this thing useless for anything except for a tiny roast or smoking fish , I’ve actually given up on it ( after 8 years ) it’s not worth the hassle cheers
