The ZFG community reminds me of the Lund community for 5.0s. I’m glad Cobb picked up the ExST. The more support you have from more companies the better! Helps the platform grow and get crazy and cooler stuff! I’m gonna end up going with Cobb because I want something I haven’t played with and also Tune+ knows his stuff. Not saying ZFG doesn’t but I like the idea of the AP

absolutely, we worked with Lund for many years on our S550 coyotes when they were first released. We ended up many years later with Rob Shoemaker making solid power and great driveability.

I'm really glad you made this video I'm new to to Explorer ST World I love mine and IV been stalling on the Cobb because everyone keeps saying ZFG and after watching this I'm glad I waited and this weekend I'm going to purchase the Cobb and get this ST tuned. Plus I'm really new to this and I'm trying to take this all in and it sucks that I live out in Massachusetts to people out suck so Thanks for all the info on Cobb.

I have been a ford product owner since age 15 and my family for decades before, i was the first to venture away when i had bought a subaru STI ....in my defence the focus RS hadn't landed yet LOL. but in the subaru community is where i got turned on to cobb accesports. I loved it, when i traded out my STI for my Exploder ST i had hoped cobb would pick up the platform. i think across the platforms Cobbs OTS tunes aren't huge power makers, they are made to be safe above all else. if I decide to play with mine now that warranty is gone i'll be getting an AP again. coming from subaru community....believe me there's tuning drama everywhere. people hated on a local tuner i used saying how soft he got and how lackluster his tunes were,. yet with the support mods i was making more power and torque than some others with more mods. and they still hated on the guys shop LOL. there's always going to be "that" tuner who gets rooted into a platform and accepted into the masses as the go to guy or girl. anyone else gets crapped on. glad you had a good experience with a second choice ✌

I agree. The community is very much stuck in what’s familiar. That’s why I went with Jim over at JDM Engineering for my initial tune. I like going against the grain. I have since, switched to ZFG. And honestly, they are very similar. Drivability is similar, Dragy is similar so far (I’ve only had a couple on ZFG versus dozens on JDM). I was actually hoping for more based on what so many had said, but I don’t see it. Not to say I’m unhappy, at all. But I love there are more options. Adam seems awesome, and I very well may swap to GooseTuned next year. I really dig Winfields vibes. But great content bro! Love the transparency.

Just ordered a 2025 ST want to get modding quickly any ideas where to start on the mods? Keeping in mind that a tune for the 25’s might not be out for a while.

My cobb accessport is due in tomorrow and super excited about the possibilities with it. I'm honestly going to start with the ots tunes until I have full bolt ons,but researching tuners for the future. I have an aftermarket intercooler and a thermal r&d 3" exhaust due in,in 2 days so won't be long before I'll be ready for a real tune. I'm just looking for a good place to install downpipes and researching what's only needed on the intake side for my 23 ST and I'll be good to go. Was considering zfg but the lack of gauge options with the HP outfit turned me off to that. I have a p3 v3 gauge on my stang and will probably move away from sct in that direction on that platform,but I hate where the p3 gauge mounts in the ST as it's difficult to see at a glance like my GT. Gotta do what's best for each platform,it's not like we should go one way or the other just because everyone else is. We have to do what's best for our individual needs.

we're currently Full bolt ons and the tuning with E50. We just dropped it off today for the new Raptor hood! We have new turbos waiting but we ran out of fuel on the stock system so we need to get that done first.

This community is definitely a bit less dynamic than the others I’ve been involved in. Hate seeing all the Cobb hate in some of the groups, competition promotes progress so loving all the support the platform gets.

How's your reliability been after tuning the vehicle? Any wear parts that are showing up sooner than later? Also anything to look for in buying one of these used? Sorry to bombard but I'm currently deciding between buying used or a new 2025 (even though tuning might not be available right away)

we havent ran into any issues after installing bolt ons and tuning. When done right with good parts and a good install your vehicle should run better overall. More power does accelerate wear though, we are only at 25k miles.

Any particular reason why you made the switch to Cobb AP other than what you explained in the video? I will be a first time user for a tune and I was planning on going ZFG DMS tune with HPtuner but now with Cobb AP device available for this platform I’m on the fence between tuners.

The device maybe had 40 percent to do with it, and 60 percent of the tuner. Tune Plus is quick on responses and knows the ecoboost platform so well. We went long periods of time with no responses from ZFG which was a big factor in not pursuing anything further with them with our turbos waiting to be put in. ZFG doesnt do this for a living, its a side gig.

yeah he tunes drivability. Id reach out to Tune Plus for a more accurate HP rating as weve never tuned for 91 in my area.

call it what it is....butthurt! If people act like then they need to get a "stuntbutt"!! I think if the loss of communication played into this then it's his fault dropping the ball to make you feel on the same page. I try to be wide open with my customers and state when I'm into something new it's new. I won't have answers yesterday it takes time and if they're gonna demand me drop what I'm doing for them I send them on their way. I cut the ties because with a tune it's not about the tune, you have assess the engine's ECM sensor for E and the rest. Like you said, the E mix shoulda been fine so a bad sensor or maybe you did make a mistake. But he noted right off the HP was low so did he do anything to confirm the mix probably not if he's tuning by phone. Thing is you're learning your ST, he knew a figure it should be. You both should agree that'll be fixed. You probably woulda been sending christmas cards to each other but not now.

So pretty sure I remember seeing the posts about this, I didn't watch this whole video. But when you dyno'd weren't you running into a fuel limit? Like you didn't get the right mixture for e50. So your 460hp was super limited by the safety of the tuning. Most likely your injectors ran out of capacity on whatever your mixture was. Ideally you would be in the 500hp range, and then +20hp for all the extra mods. It's cool if you want to try out new things, I'm interested to see what Cobb brings to the table. But so far no one has been able to beat the top what? 10 plus cars on the dragy leaderboard, which are all zfgv tuned

I dont really care about dragy leaderboards any more than I do dyno numbers, but I can tell you my customer service experience with ZFG was poor enough to not pursue further tuning with him when we build our trans and installing fueling and the upgraded turboes sitting in our garage. If his communication was better maybe some folks wouldnt be waiting months for a revision.

I had an explorer tuned by zfg. It blew up, Adam takes forever to get back to you. It was not a good experience. This go around I’m tuned by goose tuned with Cobb access port and could not be more happy.
