The B-52’s had an amazing ability to write moving instrumental music like this! Each allows you to float on the sounds where you could listen on a loop and never tire of the track.

Ricky was a flippin guitar genus! who plays with only 4 strings and makes it sound like that? no one, but he did. i love that despite fame and tragedy, which for some reason seem to go hand in hand, these folks never stopped having fun and being themselves above all else. that realization is almost a better gift that this group provides besides their music.

It's 2020 and I've listened to Cindy's tribute to her brother; death is just stepping into another room. You're still in the same house only the door they've stepped through remains locked - for a time. Then one day, the door opens and you're together again. Wait in peace, Ricky. One day your friends will see you again.

I mentioned this on another B-52s video.....but even though I was just a little kid when Ricky passed away, it still felt like a huge chunk of my heart was ripped out of my chest.....Ricky Wilson was (and still is) one of my biggest musical heroes.....tragically taken from his band mates and his fans at such a young age. As long as we listen to and enjoy the B-52s, Ricky Wilson lives! Thank you Ricky....we love and miss you.

Ricky was incredibly beautiful, although Keith was my big crush when I was 14 (1989). But, that sound..."52 Girls" is masterpiece; and "Private Idaho" is pure surf punk. Ricky gave the B's the blueprint; and, they are one of the best, if not the best, party bands of all time.

Wow I’m reminiscing looking back I honestly think The B52s are without a doubt the best band that’s ever been put together I was lucky enough to see them in 1979 at The Electric Ballroom Camden Town London I was 14 at the time This video is a beautiful wonderful memories
@Catman-ke2dx3 жыл бұрын
they werent put together, that is where they are unusual, they were friends already, and hung out together , and just decided to try and write a song. Ricky wanted to start a band, so did keith, and they all were not musicians, but had some musical experience. Kate was probably the most talented, she could play keyboard, and at same time play keyboard base, and sing or make the noises or wailing. 3 things all at same time.

Whoa. There's a lot more footage from the early B-52's years than I thought, Where can I see full footage of these early concerts? How much of it has been released?
@Catman-ke2dx3 жыл бұрын
There are 3 concerts where ricky plays the old songs, they are all here on YT. the capitol theater is the best, it is BW poor focus but audio is great , and they were at their peak in 1980! you get to see a little of ricky playing, as the cameras focused on fred way too much. It does show cindy though with her 2 solo songs, and playing the bongos. then there is the german concert, which is short and they had the 2 stupid horn guys, who ruin the old songs, but cindy is beautiful in this, in color good clarity. Big bird and dance with me were great. also listen to the opening song, where they changed words to say I want to be ruler of the nazis, and the crowd cheers . Then there is the rio concert in 85, again the horn guys ruin the old songs, but still good. just search b52's live , capitol, germany.
