I have to agree. I used to listen to Slipknot when I was 13-14 years old but I've been listening to more extreme metal for some years now. Recently however, I stumbled upon their Iowa album in my closet and put it on again and damn, was i astonished: that shit is heavy is fuck. I didn't even remember it was that brutal. But, if you want something really extreme you should check out bands like Defeated Sanity, Anaal Nathrakh, Brutal Truth, Napalm Death, ...

Children Of Bodom are one of them bands that don’t belong to any genre its called pioneering, some bands fuse elements of different style's so well that the border's just get blurred, some cant recognise the origins of new innovative creativity but if you have an ear for this you can hear everything from Manowar to Dimmu Borgir within Children Of Bodom's Metal (early work),

Nah, it's still MeloDeath. Good try, though. Venom pioneered thrash metal, they're easily called a thrash metal band. Death pioneered death metal, easily called a death metal band. Children of Bodom really isn't anything new. Their first albums, Alexi even admitted himself, were attempts at Yngwie Malmsteen. After that, became kinda standard MeloDeath. Yes, Bodom is one of my favorite bands, but they're nothing new, really.

Oh, trust me, Slipknot are far from heavy in the metal world. Lots of death metal (Dying Fetus and Solstice are the best two examples I have right now.) are waaaay heavier.
