Love the fact the Prinz Eugen is the only surviving ship of the Kriegsmarine after WW2 before it joins the US navy and sunk as a target ship (if I'm not mistaken) during the US Atomic trials.

@@jamieolberding7731 I have never heard about country that turned enemy's ship (a modern one) into museum. Only own ships are being turned into museums, but not always due to significant costs of maintaining vessels in good condition. What's worse Prinz Eugen was a warship of Nazi Germany, totalitarian regime responsible for genocide of whole nations and crimes against peace. Such huge ship could become some kind of relic worshiped by neo fascists/nazis. This is why many buildings, machines and vehicles built during that era were destroyed, hidden, scrapped or used as targets. E.g. damaged battleship "Schleswig-Holstein", which is strictly associated with the beginning of WW2 (September Campaign of 1939, Battle of Westerplatte) was captured by Soviets and also used as a target ship.

German Submarine U-505: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_submarine_U-505 is one exception, as it is perfectly well preserved on display in Chicago, Illinois. U-505 is a German Type IXC submarine built for Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. She was captured by the U.S. Navy on 4 June 1944. In her uniquely unlucky career with the Kriegsmarine, she had the distinction of being the "most heavily damaged U-boat to successfully return to port" in World War II on her fourth patrol, and the only submarine in which a commanding officer took his own life in combat conditions on her tenth patrol, following six botched patrols. She was captured on 4 June 1944 by United States Navy Task Group 22.3 (TG 22.3), one of six U-boats that were captured by Allied forces during World War II. All but one of U-505's crew were rescued by the Navy task group. The submarine was towed to Bermuda in secret and her crew were interned at a US prisoner of war camp, where they were denied access to International Red Cross visits. The Navy classified the capture as top secret and prevented the Germans from discovering it. In 1954, U-505 was donated to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, Illinois. Awesome build! I like the printed bridge pieces and the general superstructure in general. I do agree that Cobi has better pieces than lego, but I respect their policies. The KMS Prinz Eugen is by far my favorite heavy cruiser of WW2 (complete biased opinion and totally not influenced by anything else of any sort). She is named after Prince Eugene of Savoy, who I also recently found out shared a birthday with. what a great birthday surprise. Back on the ship herself, she is by far not the greatest heavy cruiser of the war, common with German cruisers she was really tall and thin, unstable, but better built for high seas. Her armor is a constant belt (3 inches around, and does nothing to help save weight) Her 8-inch guns are... meh (4 inches of penetration for supposedly 23,000 yards is ok I guess but it's an L 50 gun), her 105mm AA while advanced are also quite questionable (view Military History Visualized s video on the subject), her torpedoes..... I honestly haven't seen accounts of these being fired, used, etc so if anyone has a source for that, thanks. Lastly, from what I can tell, the German Flag bands on her deck (one on her bow, another on her stern) are not historically accurate, and probably for areal communication the yellow turret paint is used instead (like the Bismarck apparently), otherwise, it's just asking to get bombed- This part is purely my speculation though as I haven't really found stuff like this regarding that, so take that as you will. I’m a cobi collector and tanks usually take 30mins-1hour but ships are 2hours-3.5 hours

Really depents on size and excperience. A normal sized set is usuaally 1-2 hours. A small one maybe 15 mins, and these huge Ships can take like 6 hours. Really depents tho, like i said. But tanks 1-2 hours.

They are two different classes of ships ;) The Prinz Eugen was a so called Schwerer Panzerkreuzer of the Admiral-Hipper-Klasse while the Bismarck was battleship of the Bismarck Class. The Tirpitz was the Bismarcks sistership.

There was no such ship as Yorck (aside from German wet dreams of course). It has Hipper 203 mm turrets, beacuse it's a Hipper class heavy cruiser
