Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones. Yes, early China Cobras were good, new ones, not so much. Really like the early 70's-90's radios, before they sold to Tandy. I prefer a clean radio with a solid exterior amp, if your looking to clip someone's lips off. You do excellent work, even when it involves cleaning up another's mess. 73 😑🦗 "Keepin' the hobby hoppin'."

Thanks brother!! Yeah we like em a little on the hot side old school!! I was never a band purist life is too short lol.There is a huge difference in audio between flat topping and tuning it out these mosfets are far from saturation where It's tuned.Once you bring the form together perfectly clean it sounds too much like telephone audio to me and loses that AM punch.Each too there own.If your gunna run big glass heat you have to be 100% clean maybe even under :) Happy Thanks giving man!!!!

Toying with the idea of putting a real heat sink on one of those stinger boards and see how much abuse it will take. I wish they still made the one with 1446 instead of fets. Good stuff as always brother, Happy Thanksgiving. Hope you and the family are all healthy and well

Just getting back to the Ham/CB hobby after a 40 yr career and came across this video while seeing what there was to see. Is it possible to upgrade the power rating on those resistors on the stinger board and not have to worry about over heating? Would be nice to be able to install one without having to reduce power or worry about frying it with extended use.
@joefoss7297 Жыл бұрын
I'm from the old school. I have measured EF John 323 and the Motorola Mocat radios and the factory spec for both are .5 microvolt for 10 dB Q. Both companies are giants in the field. All other radios were lucky if they got better than 1 microvolt. The Regency Range-Gain factory spec was 1 Uv. They could have made them better, I would guess. On the same token, the VHF aircraft transceivers are only 1 Uv, according to the factory spec. Some of these aircraft radios cost thousands of dollars. Seems nobody bitches about it. Thanks, good luck.

I got a cobra 29 LTD Chrome a buddy gave it to me and truckstop destroyed it. They put a swing kit in it and they also clipped R 55 D11. I need a new radio that’s got clean modulation and as loud as can be. Can you help me out?
@BboyRamen698 Жыл бұрын
So theoretically if you were to play with those resistors and deal with heatsinking these could be pushed further?
@577buttfan Жыл бұрын
Yes sir.You can even run them wide open without the resistor you just need a great SWR,tune,and be easy on the key.
@samward96417 ай бұрын
So putting a RX9 HD in a dual final 979F would be it better option than this thing? People say these kind of suck...
@577buttfan7 ай бұрын
These are okay as long as you don't cut the resistors and keep an eye on your SWR just had this one come back for service and it's working great. Thanks for watching

What does the sensitivity of 1.5 mean?? Does it mean that is is 1.5 micro volts?? Is so.., that is poor. Good is .5 micro-volts or better. Wazz-up wit datt?
@577buttfan Жыл бұрын
Only time I ever say 1.5 is when referring to SWR lol.If you talking about IF sensitivity I go by the dB scale not mV.Just easier for me to learn being self taught.All my radios hear between .3-.1mV.Below .1 with 50% mod.

No point in having a Stinger board in the radio if you can't use it all the time just buy a Texas Star 250 or something and let it rip.
