Hawk is still my favorite character in the series. He illustrates the bullied-to-bully transition perfectly, I really like his friendship and distancing from Demitri, how he adopts a persona to overcome his inseccurities, and Jacob is just the best young actor in the show, by a long shot. Both his subtle and over the top moments are a joy to watch.

I expect Dimitri to be so badass next season. Here is my reasoning as to why. Because the actor who plays him is a real life black belt before the show started so it was funny having the one black belt acting like he can't fight. so I expect in season 4 the actor is gonna show us what he can really do.

That is all dependent on what the fight choreographer wants to put in the show. Black Belt or not it has to be consistent with Dimitri's character. And his character in the show has the least experience out of most of the students

@@SuperMurray2009 back in old times it took many years of hard training to even get a black belt, he’s 20 in real life and has a black belt, it’s just not the same thing as it used to be. Bruce lee didn’t officially have a black belt, yet it’s well known many black belts he sparred with he made them look like amateurs/beginners. He was very well versed in many systems but the point still stands that a “black belt” doesn’t actually mean anything without experience.

In my opinion, season 3 is where we see Daniel LaRusso fully peak as a character. He was likeable and easy to root for in the first two Karate Kid movies, but was still learning more about karate and life. Karate Kid 3 made him whiny, easy to manipulate, and less likeable. Season 1 of Cobra Kai made him matured, but still petty and wanting to hold grudges like his teenage self. In season 2, he had good intentions as a sensei, but was misguided. In season 3, we see him reconcile with TWO of his childhood enemies, we see him admit his faults to Ali, he learns one of the deepest secrets of Miyagi-Do karate, and he comes in during the final fight with the most epic moment in the series.

I think a lot of it came about over her interactions with Tori (as Sam started the bad blood between them and never apologized for it....which then just spiraled out of control after that). And also how the writers LITERALLY use her as plot device to create some form of drama through a poor choice she makes. Almost every single bad thing that happens in this show....traces back to a poor decision she made. Granted, it's always a crazy turn of events before it reaches it, but she is essentially used as a plot device to stir up drama, and it has unfortunate side effects for audience reactions to her character.

Mine is very similar for top 4 1. Johnny of course 2. Miguel 3. Hawk 4.Daniel Overall the best characters of the whole series and all 4 carried the series on there backs!! Also if your wondering why I didnt put daniel higher it's simply because he acts soft and wimpy and I would personally put hawk before that. Jacob (hawks actor) is clearly the best out of all the 'teens' when you properly look at his skill and technique but of course they make robby and miguel look better than him because of what the series is about!!!

Obviously Johnny, Miguel, and Daniel are the best characters but I do love the drama that the Robby character creates, especially in season one. Not so sure that his arc in season three makes much sense but I feel it’s all leading to an extremely emotional climax come next season. Also love his rivalry with Miguel.

Good comment. The writing for Robby for Season 3 is easily the weakest link in the story telling. I guess there's only so much story that can be told in a 6 hour season. With Daniel in Okinawa, Kreese's backstory, etc. too much was happening in Season 3, and certain moments and themes felt glossed over. I think Ali inclusion into the story was very well done though.

He goes through some messed up stuff sure but that doesnt excuse his actions by any means and it certainly doesn't make me like him more. Not only does he fail to show any regret for his actions after the first half of season 3 , he also goes and joins up with some guy he barely knows just to spite his father figures. Isn't that what he did in season 1? What Robby lacks is good character development, he could have had some this season but the writers decided to have him revert back to his old selfish, petty ways from back in season 1.

You may have interpreted differently but I'm pretty sure Robby related with Kreese's message that you have to stand up for yourself and you can't be your own worst enemy. It just seemed like a sensible option to Robby at the time, especially since Kreese already offered for him to go to Cobra Kai.

My Ranking 12.Tory: They want us to like her because of her home life but she's just so annoying and a literal blood seeking psychopath. 11.Carmen: She's fine but doesn't really do anything memorable or interesting. 10.Aisha: She had an interesting story but I didn't really care for her character that much and I didn't really even notice her absence in season 3. 9.Robbie: He also has an interesting story but he's so whiny, he lies all the time and always plays the victim. 8.Demetri: He's kind of annoying but I find him funny. 7.Hawk: I love his storyline but I think they waited to long to have him turn sides. 6.Sam: I think Sam is a great character in the first 2 seasons and her PTSD storyline in season 3 was just incredible. Also she isn't perfect and actually has faults which people seem to hate on her for but it just makes her feel more human and relatable and it makes her an interesting character. She's what Rey should've been. 5.Amanda: She's hilarious 4.Kreese: Kreese is like the Palpatine of this show and he's just such a great villain as he manipulates everyone. 3.Daniel: I think seeing Daniel struggle to keep to Miyagi's teachings and him trying to live up to them is a great story for his character. 2. Miguel: I love how Miguel is a perfect mix of Johnny and Daniel from the original film. 1. Johnny: Johnny is just hilarious but I love how we get to know more and more about the one dimensional bully from the original film and really care for him. He's just a perfect character.

Sam is a person with a lot of growing up to do, my issue what that is how the show doesn't seem to acknowledge her flaws as a character despite the writing giving many viewers the impression where she will learn from her mistakes and become a better person. Sam in season 3 seems to deal with PTSD and guilt over Miguel's injury. Although that isn't a bad thing, the writers don't really delve deep into the character's own shortcomings whereas the show clearly tells us some of the other characters like Tory, Kreese, and Daniel have their own holes in their behaviors.

The only thing I would personally change is I would swap Samantha and Aisha. I feel Aisha doesn’t have enough screen time (especially with her exclusion from season 3) for me to put her so high and I actually really enjoy Samantha’s presence and her trying to do what’s best and her faults come from her inability to communicate with others in effective ways and her confusion with these situations.

I love all of the characters, so you could say this is "Least-best to best." 14. Tory Nichols (I do agree that she was too mean and psychotic and her backstory, while it always makes us feel sorry for her, doesn't really save it).13. Kyler (He was kind've a classic bully, but he was very funny).12. Robby Keene (Even though he's pretty low on this list, he's the second character who I felt sorry for the most, first being Johnny).11. Stingray (I don't know if he's exactly a main character because he was only in one season, but he was a very likable character, nonetheless).10. Aisha Robinson (She was another character I felt sorry for a lot in this season and I'm kinda sad she wasn't in Season 3. Hopefully, she'll be in Season 4).9. Hawk/Eli (Hawk is definitely one of the most interesting characters in the series, mostly because of his backstory, but like Tory, the backstory doesn't really save the fact that he became worse than the people who bullied him. I'm glad he finally realized that at the end of Season 3).8. Demetri (Reason why I like Demetri more than Hawk is because he went from a whiny nerd to a badass in Season 3, plus, he reminds me of a friend I had in middle school).7. John Kreese (I don't think anybody can deny Kreese has got to be, if not, one of the best villains in a martial arts movie/series).6. Carmen Diaz (She's just so lovely and very easy to feel for).5. Daniel LaRusso (He's a character that isn't exactly the easiest to root for and I feel like after Mr. Miyagi died, he kinda lost his way, but he's still the same guy I rooted for in the films).4. Samantha LaRusso (I wasn't a huge fan of Sam in the beginning, but then, later in Season 1, I started to appreciate her more and after Season 3, I think she's a great character).3. Amanda LaRusso (I think she's the best in the LaRusso family because she's able to help people like Daniel, Sam, and Robby solve their problems. I also love how she's such a cool character when she doesn't know karate).2. Johnny Lawrence (I like how this series focused on Johnny since the films focused on Daniel back in the 80's. Plus, he's funny as hell). 1. Miguel Diaz (Miguel is just so likable and relatable, and he makes me wish that I was like him).

The part when Kreese is about to get evicted and he takes both guys out. Just wish they would have shown it or at least the aftermath with Kreese walking into his office. The line he said about cleaning the blood off the mat you knew the guys were getting messed up. That was badass. Everytime he is on the screen he takes my attention. His backstory was great and i think well needed. Season 3 is my favorite season also.

You described every character perfectly except the way they did Hawk story was great, when he turns during the fight it was exciting and I was really shocked. They showed us Hawk go further and further to the dark side when he broke Demetri arm I said "He's gone" but you could see the regret he had. When he beat that bully I said " he's gone" lol. Then he turned around.

Ik ppl hate Robby but I find him written very well in a realistic, grounded way. Not having a father for most of his life = he is easily influenced like most teens, lacks an identity of who he really is, and can play the victim like most ppl who have gotten the short end of the stick in life. But despite him making poor choices that REALLY frustrates us as viewers I still feel sorry for him. And his turn to the dark side imo was pretty interesting, hope he gets a redemption arc in S4.

How I think they should of done hawks redemption is when cobra kai attack’s the house he would decline, than he would start thinking about his real friends and how he hurt them. After that he would show up at the house out of nowhere and save Damitri from cobra kai.

i literally agree completely with the whole list and every single point, except maybe putting demetri higher, since i found his dialogue more funny than annoying in the first season, because he wasnt there for that long. It was not fun to watch him be so cynical about karate before he got into it, but i think the motivation for him was very believable.
