It was also Daniel who stepped up and extended his hand to Johnny to mend things with him. People have this weird skewed perspective of Daniel in this show when the whole show is about two good guys who are each others antagonists going from fighting against each other to eventually uniting as friends.

I think it’s cause Season 1 made us rethink Karate Kid so much that we had in our heads that Daniel has become a dick that we haven’t let go of the fact that maybe Daniel isn’t the bad guy and neither is Johnny.

"Daniel would not [insert hot-headed thing]" Are we talking about the Daniel Larusso we saw in the movie? Yeah, Daniel had a good heart, always has, but his temper has always been his WORST weakness! Daniel Larusso has ALWAYS had a problem with jumping first, looking second (if ever) and letting the consequences of his actions be a problem for Future Daniel.

For those of us who have no nostalgia for the original trilogy, and in my case didn't even watch them until after Season 1 of CK, Season 1 is biased towards making Johnny the more likable of the two. Its his story initially, but when him and Daniel start interacting, you see just how similar they are, you want them to settle the beef and become friends, because the chemistry is amazing and they are so similar. Johnny's a badass, but so is Daniel. Season five just brings everything full circle so well.
@MichaelAnthonyPresents2 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly how it’s supposed to be. It made us see the first movie differently and root for Johnny since he was now living the working class lifestyle that Daniel and his mom had in the movies while Daniel took over Johnny’s role of being the rich person who seemed to get everything. It wasn’t until the show progressed we realized that both of them were in the right and both were in the wrong that makes the show so amazing. The show makes us root for everyone on every side, but I do think Season 1 needed to establish Johnny more than Daniel since Johnny wasn’t super developed in the first movie while we got 3 movies of development for Daniel.

Johnny’s teachings were very similar to Kreese’s, but it took a tournament to really show him how he should teach. I wouldn’t even say they brought him down much besides Season 1 since that season was more about introducing the relationship between Johnny and Miguel. The past 3 seasons focused much more on the adult characters over the teen characters and Daniel and Johnny were at the forefront of that.

I dont think I was on anyone’s side, but I understood Johnny’s side more. I think with the first two seasons, I was drawn more to Johnny’s side, but when Daniel explained the situation from KK1 to Miguel in S3, it made me realize that Daniel was just a kid with impulse control issues, but was because Johnny and his friends were being douches to him and he didnt know how to react properly. The dinner with Ali further pushed the narrative that there really wasnt a right or wrong person in the scenario, it was two people with serious flaws fighting each other and the tension continued because they’re both similar in a lot of ways, but don’t like to admit it because their lives are so unbelievably different.

MICHEAL ANTHONY: This a very good character analysis. I think people today are so into putting labels on others and painting into the light that they want them to be in that they forget that people can change and just because they change in ways that we might not like or agree with, it doesn't that they've changed for the worst and that their change is still impactful to the others around them. You know everyone is so invested in hearing the Miyagi wisdom with their own ears and seeing it with their own eyes, that everyone forgets one of the biggest main cores of the entire Miyagi universe: Not everything is what it seems. That doesn't just go for Karate, that goes for everything and everyone. Just because someone seems like they have it easy or good or better or worse in one person's eyes and that's how it appears to be upon view, it doesn't mean that that's how it actually is. Daniel is still the Daniel that we all know and love from the first Karate Kid movies and even though it may have seemed like he changed a lot in some ways that made him seem (in the eyes of Johnny and the audience) superficial and a jerk, it doesn't mean that he still wasn't Daniel and that him changing wasn't for the better and made a positive difference in the lives of others (including Johnny)

The thing was that he was completely dismissive in the beginning and thought that no one else could be as good as he was in terms of personality, which was his pitfall. However, he actually grew up throughout the series, as did Johnny. That was the good thing about Cobra Kai, where it shows that everyone grew, not just the kids, but the adults as well.

the problem with danielle, especially season 4, is that he keeps negating johnny's karate and only thinks miyagi do is the right way. WHEN LITERALLY CHOZEN TOLD HIM MIYAGI DO TAUGHT OFFENSE IN SEASON 3....... AND DANIELLE LITERALLY USED OFFENSE AGAINST KREESE AT THE END OF SEASON 3!!! not to mention all his other hypocritical and narcissistic traits in season 1 especially, but the entirety of the show. i sympathized with daniel in karate kid 1, but ever since cobrai kai season 1 and 2 alone, i despise him as a character. he doesnt realize the positive impact johnny had on kids like miguel and he doesnt understand the difference between cobra kai and johnny's cobra kai. And due to that arrogance, danielle's fear of cobra kai came to fruition. ironic. oh and not to mention danielle even used johnny's karate when disciplining anthony. then has the audacity to ridicule sam for doing the same thing.
@MichaelAnthonyPresents2 жыл бұрын
Well I think if you heard that an adult assaulted a bunch of kids and that adult taught karate, you’d be going crazy. Daniel also was fine with Johnny’s lessons, but it was when Terry came back he reverted to his old ways. Johnny also had issues and if it wasn’t Daniel pushing MiyagiDo down his throat, it would’ve been Johnny getting overly jealous about Miguel and him creating a strong bond that would’ve split the dojos up. There’s two sides to the story and if we take it from Daniel’s perspective, many times, he has a valid reason to be so upset.
@7aemr2 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelAnthonyPresents yet every time, Amanda points out his double standard when its ever his "pov" also if an adult assaulted a bunch of kids i would be concerned, but johnny didnt do that. one, they were werent kids, and two they were a-holes that deserved it. and a lot of adults teach karate, even daniel. danielle couldve just minded his own business and continued w his bonzai car selling. johnny was sad that miguel was hanging out w daniel more, but johnny issue was that it made miguel pick a fight then run away from it, and that it always had to be daniel's way. i still dont think miguel shouldve referred to daniel as "sensei" cuz that is his and johnny's relationship. i dont think miguel meant anything by it but it did mean something to johnny and it is an overlooked scene imo. miguel shouldve just said mr larruso. and theres 3 sides to every story..

@@7aemr oh of course that relationship of Sensei should’ve stayed between Johnny and Miguel, but Miguel is getting taught by Daniel and even scenes before Miguel called Daniel sensei, Johnny was jealous. Also they were kids, they were all 16 which in the state of California they are in, it means that Johnny assaulted a bunch of minors. In the case of Miyagi, theres a chance he assaulted adults because all the Cobra Kais in the movie were seniors while Kyler and his friends were sophomores. Deserved it or not, Johnny still did that and that’s wrong.

@@7aemr You're looking at things that physically happened instead of putting yourself in the shoes of Daniel who didn't witness it but can only go off of what he has heard and it just so happens that history reinforces the possibility of what he heard. Also, Johnny and Daniel are sensais of Miguel and of many other kids. The show is all about finding the balance between offense and defense. I'll also add that it was Daniel who stood up, apologized, extended his hand to Johnny, and mended things over with him. Them uniting very well may not have happened if otherwise.
