Great review. I think Cobra driver for 2019 jump off really much in performances respect the 2018 model. Not so much for Callaway and Tm. Much improvement like the TS model from Titlest. I think could be a best seller.

Hey Michael. Great review but that 9 degree F9 is designed to be more low spinning than the 10.5 degree F9 head. It’s the replacement for the F8+ so the spin being lower than the F8 is right.
@user-fn3zh8nw4f6 жыл бұрын
Nice comparison but I still think that the right comparison should be made between F9 and F8+ due to the disposition of the weights that is very similar.
@icecmu6 жыл бұрын
F8+ has no chance ether. The F9 will be the driver of the year. I did a comparison at my local shop and f9 is giving me 15 more yards than the 8+!!!! Easily the best driver i've ever hit!
@raginasianinvasion6 жыл бұрын
Wouldn’t make a difference, the F9 is insanely good this year. Just put it up against my TS2 and the Epic Flash Sub Zero and it wasn’t even close. Will be driver of the year.

Mike Cerniglia I had in my hands both , 9 and 10.5 before Christmas and let me say I’ve not felt a great difference in between my Volition F8+ and F9 , I’ve been using the same shafts with same swingweights , so I’m curious if another player could have noticed the same.

The 9 degree F9 is the '+' model this year, so it's not really not a good comparison.

Well I have my confidence inspiring Cobra F6 in my bag and am still jealous of you F8 owners, even after seeing this "I wasted my money on an F8" video because of the groves on the face of the club face. The F9 has the same groves patern on the face as well and Michael, you didn't mention this. I watched several videos last year on this groves vs. No groves debate. This is a notable feature and the reason I am interested in the F9. Glad you did this comparison!

So far, I'm more impressed with the performance I'm seeing in reviews of the Cobra F9 driver than that of the new Taylormade M5/M6 and Callaway Epic Flash drivers. This looks like a very solid driver and I look forward to hitting it when its released to compare it to my G400.
@bryanhylok99616 жыл бұрын
yeah I hear the same heard m5/m6 not great, I play the g400 max want to see the difference and will wait for the G410 plus it might be best looking one have to see how it performs can move a weight to 3 different corners of club

Caleb Hubmann Don't get suckered into the marketing hype bud, there "could" be a 1% improvement on a perfect strike which won't make any real difference to your score or experience of golf. I am continually amazed at how each year we get this hype when the distances are just so marginal. We don't actually know how forgiving the club is and how it performs with different ability levels either. F8+ is awesome enjoy playing for many more years :-).

Mike, when you do these tests weigh the heads with shafts off. The performance of the F8+ is better more headweight. Remember, your Ping G-400 has a standard head target weight of 207-208. The other companies come in under 205 or less. It makes a big difference for the shaft to really load up & release with more mass.
@dougiemontana48156 жыл бұрын
thomas ross that’s because the shaft of the f8+ is shorter than the f8. The shorter the shaft the more weight needs to be added to the head to have the correct swing weight. I’m guessing the F9 has the shorter shaft with the weights being 2 grams heavier than the standard f8
@thomasross12856 жыл бұрын
@@dougiemontana4815 I have building custom clubs for over 20 years. I had to have my F-8+ head replaced because Cobra added too much hot melt in the wrong position. Standard swingweight is D-2, too light. I took the new head without hot melt, added 4 grams, installed Fujikura Pro Tour Spec. 65 grams. 44/34in. Swing weight is D-5, actually D-4 because of golf pride mmc grip is 47 grams. 3 grams lighter than a standard 50 gram grip. Any driver built with less than 70 gram shafts should have higher swing weights to improve performance & feel. Golfers that want to understand golf club design should read publication books by Tom Wishon & Roger Maltby. They describe the engineering & design procedures for club building. These are the standard teaching manuals in the industry, not just hear say on the internet.
@thomasross12856 жыл бұрын
Sorry but if you want proof, go to the PIng website. Lookup tour players. Ping publishes the exact specs. for clubs of staff players, shafts,lengths,swingweights,flex,grips & head type.
@jameslovering91586 жыл бұрын
thomas ross Interesting comments on your F8+, I have the standard NV Shaft S 65 grams oddly to me the head does feel slightly heavy and the shaft slightly short given my old driver had a 50 gram shaft and was about 1.5 inches longer. Are you informing that due to the shorter shaft the head is actually too light? How can I add more weight to get his closer to ideal, I have left the weight settings as 12 grams in front and had the loft dropped to 8% seems to fly ok but I do need to make a conscious effort to hit up ( or feel that I am ).
@thomasross12856 жыл бұрын
@@jameslovering9158 When titanium driver heads came out, they were small & heavier. Shaft lengths were 44 inches. That was the standard. Then they got bigger & lighter, with a standard length of 45 inches. The shafts were 70-80 grams. They were just beginning the tech to make graphite shafts lighter yet strong enough for the added force & clubhead speed. Shaft flex testing for frequency was based on 205 gram weight as the standard measurement. The top club fitters recommend for any driver with less than 70 grams, have a higher swingweight for feel & to load the shaft properly. To answer your question- moving the weight forward changes the dynamic loft, by either resisting loft with weight forward or adding loft by moving weight back. A big misconception is that moving the weight actually changes cg. The cg is changed very little. How the face alignment changes is due to the how the weight moves around the center of gravity. Cg is actually calculated on measurements. There are measuring machines to determine this. Standard swingweight for F-8+ is D-2, with a 45 inch shaft. If you want to see some facts that most golfers do not see from club companies, Go to the Ping website. They actually publish the build specs. for their tour players. I also have a G-400, 45 inches, 60 gram Ping Tour shaft, Swingweight D-4+. I do not think anybody on their staff uses a D-2 swingweight, regardless of shaft length. Headweight is only a medium factor for distance, unless it is too light or too heavy to keep the tempo & swing speed correct. It is a major factor of feel & is part of the equation, F=M x A. I have extra weights for my F-8+. You can get them from a club supply company. They are sold all over the internet for different clubs. Go to your local club repair shop & ask the them what options & recommendations they have, not a fitting company using a flightscope. They will sell you a new driver. good luck!

I realize from you saying in other videos you are a tall man, so longer arms and legs help with swing speed. However these 115 mph swing speeds seem very casual in their execution that some would see them as effortless. Have you considered a video to explain your personal swing mechanic and how you 'sequence' things in order to achieve this? Any speed drills that you do for example?

I just picked up a F8 for $300 AU to replace my F7 driver. I am very happy with it's performance distance and accuracy wise. It is very forgiving of off centre hits in comparison with the F7. If I decide on a F9 it will be as a run out offer when the F10 arrives.

Michael did you use the very same shaft in both Driver heads, or were there two different shafts that were the same make, model and weight. If you made that statement earlier in the video post I just did not pick up on it. To me I'd like to know if it was the exact same shaft used in both Driver heads or not. Good video post, thanks.

Even with u being tall could u try the f9 with a half inch shorter shaft. Closer to middle strike and u swing so so smooth and dont even look like it going at it and its over 300. How u managing that lol. Give it a go for the viewers please. I am 5'9" and just just put 1" shorter shaft in rogue and banging it easier. But feel ive possibly lost just a few yards but it's a fairway finder now. Can't wait to try this driver with a slightly shafted shaft too.
