-I always thought that the “Cobra” was a British automobile company that Carroll Shelby bought out with his European racing winnings (money) brought it over to the U.S. and put a more powerful Ford engine in it. Put his name all over it and sold it in the States. But that is not really accurate since the “Cobra” continues to be sold in England as the AC Cobra while in the States it’s better known as the Shelby Cobra and is left hand drive while in Britain its right hand drive.
