You caught so many of these though...i know these units are supposed to be rare but by the amount of catches it looks like you see specialist emergency vehicles every day!

It's not the rareness of catching a special vehicle, it's the rareness of each individual vehicle. Quite a lot of these in here I've only ever seen responding once in my life time. Plus the title is SPECIAL, not necessarily RARE. An Aerial Rescue Pump is considered special because of the aerial ladder capability, yet it responds every day, several times each day. But I do catch a lot of special stuff, which is why everyone else is jealous of me :P

@@CobraEmergency I think different states have their own version of a IRU. I'm from Georgia so our IRU is really a bus and in some towns the IRU and Haz Mat team are the same. We even have some Fire Tow Trucks in some places.

@@BandTubeHD Oh yes in the US definitely, but here in the UK the IRU is a Government funded Mass Decontamination vehicle provided as part of a fleet known as 'New Dimensions' which are national counter terrorism and major incident vehicles. All though some services have adapted them for their own use since their equipment recently expired and the Government aren't funding new ones.

Thanks! Actually I do - I live near the base where this helicopter is based so I see it fly over and go in for landing or take off, lol. And compared to other places I usually see it land in my area about 3 or 4 times a year as it's often the closest and most available ambulance resource in my rural area.

The truck's name - incident response unit - doesn't really explain its role. It is basically one of many mass decontamination units that were introduced after the 9-11 attacks in America. As well as being kitted out to deal with a chemical or nuclear terrorist attack, they also respond to your everyday chemical incident.
