Just bought one. 1986 FA. Fully rebuilt it. New spring kit, FTF CNC bolt, Lage trip, Lage sear, Lage safety, shockwave mags. I’d love to get a slow fire bolt for it but have to wait for practical solutions to finish setting up their mill. With Lage everything and shockwave mags that thing is an animal. Runs like a top.

That’s awesome! I really wanted to get one a while ago but then decided that it is too much money for a single item and if I was going to do it, it would be as an investment and I don’t believe in opening any guns that I don’t use and abuse. I don’t know if Lage will ever get the slow fire bolts going. I don’t remember the name of the guy who designed them and got them made the first few times and he has passed. I know there have been a few people that made their own tungsten inserts and I think that might be the best way to go unless you wanna spend like 3000 on one of the bolts on GunBroker

@@martinrps13 original designer was coffee freak. He then took the design to Vegas machine who made them but the man who ran that sadly passed away. And yeah, I saw that bolt, ridiculous price for what he’s asking. I almost did it if I didn’t make that call to practical solutions. I love the M11/9, it’s so simple, it can be fast af, or tame, parts are all OVER the place and it’s a head turner at the range lol.

I keep hearing how these cobray M11-9s are crap.. but I recently acquired one that was sitting in a briefcase in a family members closet for over thirty years. I just cleaned it and put in a new buffer pad and haven't had any issues with it.

I hear the same thing but as long as I have a good magazine in mine I never have issues. What is yours marked? Like the maker is it SWD?

@@martinrps13 It actually just says cobray on it (and nothing else) and came with a manual. The manual says it's an SWD, but I did some research on it and think it came as a kit, and whoever had it before my family member got it welded it together themselves.

I also have four original magazines and again haven't had any issues with those either.

@@weeelerrr9200 What happens is over time the plastic feed lips spread out and cause jams. The plastic magazines used to sell for about $8 apiece before 1994 so they were usually tossed when they wore out.

Ingram had nothing to do with the M11/9. SWD was the company that designed and manufactured the M11/9. The M11/9 was based on the Ingram M11/380. Cobray is a registered trademark originally for Ingram's MAC company that SWD bought out after MAC went out of busjness.

Yeah.....Ingram had everything to do with this gun. He laid the ground work for how it had to be made. But combined with him and Mitch getting the boot and the AFT not liking open bolts everything changed. It would be safe to say that eventually they would have made a 9mm version. But it ended up being done by SWD

@@BozgorSlayer Ingram was forced out of his own Company in 1972. A man named Wayne Daniels opened up a Company called SWD in 1983. He had bought the manufacturing rights to the M11/380 and redesigned it into the M11/9 in 1983. Daniels sold his M11/9’s through his other company called Cobray Firearms. I own two M11/9 SMG’s, both made in 1986 just before the Machinegun ban.

@@535tony Mine is the "Leinad" 9mm version. Any info on those? Quality, value? I just got it. Mine doesn't say "SWD" on the side. Threaded barrel, no stock.

@@BozgorSlayer Leinad came after the Assault Weapon ban in 1994. After the ban Wayne Daniels closed up SWD and opened other companies. The Leinad guns were made by one of Wayne Daniels new companies. Leinad is Daniels spelled backwards. These are still good guns. Make sure yours has the proper magazine release on it. The Leinad guns made during the ban had a government mandated magazine release that would not hold high capacity magazines. I don’t own a semi auto M11/9 so I can’t really say how much they are worth now.

I like the Lucas as well. Im looking at a Cobray M11 1989. Idk if its worth the money the guys asking its in good shape. Im just buying it to throw a suppressor on it

@@martinrps13 me too brother; i love welding together parts kits and turning those old smg's into something functional and l"legal" again; i would have way more fun if i could put them back into their original status, but hey; the government loves to pick on us law abiders, and ignore the city dwellers with their 'switch" pistols so we jump through hoops.

Has there been a ruling about the legality of the strap on a pistol? Last I heard it was illegal, FYI. I'm hoping that has changed, even though it doesn't impact me.

@@martinrps13 As a former dealer I only did form 4 transfers, yes if you make a AOW on a form 1 they charge a $200 tax for making. I never did a form 1, .

I bought a new Go Pro 7 Black and it is horrible. I changed all kinds of settings but it has issues. I really need to get a better camera cause I have had to start using my iPhone. I always thought the M11/9 made a great SMG but a lousy semi auto pistol. The Semi auto carbine version is pretty good though. On the other hand your pistol shoots pretty good.

The carbine is just too heavy. I have a few of those uppers and haven’t shot them since this was filmed

@@martinrps13 I use a 10 inch barreled upper on my M11/9 SMG. Perfect length and I put a barrel extension on it. It even comes with an adjustable front sight.
