All of his "covers" are like that, he doesn't make drum "copies", that's what makes it enjoyable to listen to, and what had gained him such popularity on youtube. At least for some, such as myself. There are those that complain that he "made a mistake", or that "that's not how it's supposed to be played", but I say if you want to listen to how it's supposed to be played, then why not just listen to the actual song? Just my 2 cents.

Dude...I totally see what you are coming from, but everyone who is familiar with this song can most likely recite the drum part, so the drum "copy" would be boring. He plays more fills and little licks based off of the original licks. It keeps things interesting and makes people not get bored with it! He could over-play the crap out of it! I know lots of drummers that don't even play full grooves over songs when they cover it, and it just sounds like fill after fill after fill. But cobus ingeniously does licks and fills without overbearing overplaying.

actually in this cover he didn't even used the double peds. His heel-toe technique is amazing that's it sounds like he uses 2 pedals. If you see him use double peds he uses is RRLLRRLLRRLL instead of RLRLRLRLRLRL form.
