Paramore said countless of times that they made this EP to make you understand that if they wanted, they could still make songs with the same old formula. And that's the point: they don't want to. They're not teenagers anymore, they're not always angry at everything and everyone, they're open to experimenting. It's easier to do that when you're 3 and not a 5 piece band. 4 years passed between Brand New Eyes and the self-titled and that's a lot of time. People grow, they change. They lost members and took it as a chance to re-invent themselves. When this song came out everyone was surprise because how heavy it sounded. Now people like to come here and say stuff like 'oh, I miss this sound' when pretty much 3/4 of their discography doesn't come close to the darkness of this song. It's honestly super funny to me. My advice? Listen to the self-titled ALBUM and not its singles. It's different, sure, but do you think that Riot was a natural progression from AWKIF? That BNE was exactly like Riot? No, all of them are completely different from each other. The same band that made Misery Business also wrote My Heart. The band that wrote Ignorance also wrote The Only Exception. The same band that wrote Still Into You wrote Future.

SonPan96 They change their setlist at the beginning of every tour to change it up a little and to bring these kinds of songs back to life for the fans, at least for a little while. I think it's understandable that the majority of the set will include most of their new songs as that's what they're trying to promote and is the direction they're heading in. They can't play the same old songs forever.

My one complaint is that when they play their older songs, Hayley sings them the same way she sings the new songs--happy. But that doesn't work for songs like Ignorance, Careful, or even Misery Business etc. For those songs to sound great, Hayley has to use her more raspy/angry/rock voice. If you sing those songs the same way you sing Ain't it Fun or Still Into You, it's just going to ruin the song. She might not do this all the time, but I've definitely seen multiple videos on youtube like that and it annoys me.

This song was one of the most decisive moves Paramore has ever done. They showed the world they could still make the same kind of sound, they just didn't want to. Btw the lyrics are full of messages to an ex member of the group we all know, i mean, the song came out after the announcement, fans were confused. I'd like to quote "Call me a traitor, I'm just collecting your victims and they're getting stronger... I hear them calling". They were clearly talking about fans or band followers, nobody knew which side pick. I'm glad they took right choices and continue to get one of their most succesful projects: Self titled, and their most aclaimed one; After Laughter.

Many years ago I had an argument with my dad and step-mum, I was left homeless and I stayed in the woods for a couple nights in the cold and dark, I burned books to keep warm but.. there was a couple of teens who played this song as they walked past and that gave me the inspiration and confidence to keep going, paramore kept me going and now I am doing well. I think that over time a bands sound will inevitably change (which is totally fine). I think one of the main reasons why rock is "dying" is because people never try to find new music, and just listen to old bands. Newer rock bands are struggling because people keep saying that the genre is dying, and then never make an effort to support the genre by giving them a chance. It's a process that causes less rock bands to form, which causes the genre to deteriorate. People can't complain about when they're part of the problem. So, please, if you want to keep rock from dying, support smaller, newer bands, because they're struggling to make it, and struggling to keep the genre alive once the big bands change their sound.

Honestly, I think people are more upset by their new SOUND rather then their current lyrics, feel as a band, etc., despite whatever the hell they say. All of their songs still have meaning behind them, which I love, even if I am not the biggest fan of their new sound. This usually happens when bands sound more ''happier''. It's like this stupid war with the pop genre. There is nothing wrong with music that is just for fun versus music that is made to really make you feel something. Both can be equally enjoyable. Not all pop is bad, not all rock is good.
