Thank you for this! I have wondered if the implants affected speech. Now I know. You sound terrific!

My husband's activation on his implant was 2 months ago (significant hearing loss since birth). . His voice is noticably clearer over the phone (he has received many comments) and his singing is becoming significantly better! We were shocked when he sung Happy Birthday to a friend as we were not expecting such a dramatic change as is brain is still adopting to the implant. He is still experiencing tinnitus.

Thanks for watching the video and conveying your husband's experiences. That's fantastic to hear! I hope that his tinnitus fades over time.

I do not feel the internal components at all. I hope this answers your question. I wish you good luck on your upcoming surgery. Let us know how it goes for you!

Hi, very interesting video. My question to you is if you have tinnitus and/or hyperacusis before the cochlear implants and whether you had an improvement or not afterwards.

Hello! Thanks for watching the video! I had severe hearing loss prior to the implants, more so on the right than on the left. I had some tinnitus and that went away after my surgeries.

5:04 Готовлюсь к опперации на КИ . Хотелесь бы услышать ваши впечатления , в том числе и отрицательные.

The only negative experience is that the sounds will sound quite strange after you are activated. That is normal. Give your brain time to adjust to it! Good luck ! 😀

Yes, you can wear a hearing aid in your second ear while you adjust with the implanted side. That is exactly what I did with my first implant in 2013. It worked out quite well. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

As I was born deaf, I lost the ability for “feedback loop” to develop normally. I do too have a speech impediment due to the fact most hearing develops in infants and toddlers between 0-6 years. Therefore, it import to aid the child early. However, I do realize this is controversial in the Deaf community. However, I was born a conductive hearing loss due malformed ear drums and ear canals. Most cochlear implant recipients have sensineural hearing loss.

This topic is, indeed, controversial in the Deaf community. My philosophy is that every one’s decision should be respected regardless of what it is.
